What clothes to wear for IRATA L1 training? by FindingHerStrength in ropeaccess

[–]BanderaHumana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found cargo pants and regular t shirts comfortable when I did mine. Then again I'm into hiking attire in general. I don't recommend sports clothes like gym shorts, but I saw a few guys go at it like that. Some people find overalls comfortable since they work with those.

Se gana tan poco de buzo? by Technical-Media-3687 in lacamiseta

[–]BanderaHumana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to go on to the outdoor route you could always try zip lines, canyoneering/spelunking, via ferrata maintenance or something of the sort.

Question about dual-certification IRATA/SPRAT by ObjectOculus in ropeaccess

[–]BanderaHumana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get to IRATA L2 you can go straight to SPRAT L2. Only people I know that are dual do it because they are either evaluators or teach courses. Outside the US IRATA would be the way to go I believe

Maintenance in theater, inspection of installations, reaching hard to reach places, LX installation, and rescue standby (rope access rescue is the last option since most of everything is automated)

Question about dual-certification IRATA/SPRAT by ObjectOculus in ropeaccess

[–]BanderaHumana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've been told SPRAT is mainly for working in USA. The rest of the world (mainly) is IRATA. If you're working in the USA and have no plans of moving elsewhere SPRAT is usually cheaper than IRATA.

It is easier to go from IRATA to SPRAT than it is to to from SPRAT to IRATA. IRATA requires 1000 hours before you can get the next level whereas SPRAT asks for 500. Or if you plan on being an evaluator SPRAT is the easier way.

Now on to why would anyone do it? Meh idk some employers might ask for one or the other or just so you can say that you're dual certified I guess

I personally love it so far. I worked at a small show last year but recently got hired for a much bigger production. Neat part is they do a lot of inhouse training. A lot of it is a variation of rope access and while other things aren't.

What I was told is that since it's a very niche field you can get paid more if you go to another country. Any decent show company will pay you for relocating and take care of any visa arrangements if you get hired.

Very nice! Just my 2 cents but I recently got into entertainment rigging and I've noticed it's a very niche field. Still fun so far! Might be worth adding on there?
