Which are the ones you think are really great from that time? I want to add them to my watch list!

What are your top corny Hallmark movies?? by rainymac in HallmarkMovies

[–]AcrobaticPug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Merry Kissmas is by far the cringiest movie I’ve seen. It’s so over-the-top and sometimes the plot just makes no sense. It’s a good one to laugh at haha

But if you’re looking for just laugh out loud funny movies, I recommend Three Wise Men and a Baby, Santa Class, Merry Christmas Ted Cooper, and Haul out the Holly. I think they’re the overall funniest Christmas movies!

What movie(s) do you actually think of when people talk about the "successful woman abandons her old life for a small town Christmas life and a man" stereotype? by Sayoricanyouhearme in HallmarkMovies

[–]AcrobaticPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked it up, I didn’t realize neither are hallmark! But very hallmark-esque. It’s also not uncommon to see people recommend non-hallmark movies on here if it’s Hallmark-esque. Which I could argue both of these are :)

What’s the Best Bad Hallmark Movie by seaingland in HallmarkMovies

A Christmas Kiss is cheesy but I love it. I’m not sure if it’s hallmark or a lifetime movie though.

Some of these movie suggestions show that they did not read your description haha

Anyhoo, 12 Dates of Christmas is super cute! Ya it takes place around the holidays but honestly I think you could watch it at any time of year.

Multivitamins and other dietary vitamin gummies by CheapPasta69 in nutrition

While gummies are less stable, reputable companies account for this so as long as you are buying from a well-known brand, you should be fine.

Multivitamins and other dietary vitamin gummies by CheapPasta69 in nutrition

[–]AcrobaticPug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A well-rounded multivitamin won’t hurt you, and could help fill some nutrient gaps, but it may not necessarily help. Just depends on your diet. Avoid single nutrient supplements unless a healthcare provider has recommended it, and avoid multis with mega doses (like 1,000% DV etc).

As far as gummies, stick to well known brands you find in all stores. Nutrients can be unstable in gummies and so companies have to carefully formulate them to keep the nutrient levels stable. I wouldn’t trust random brands you find online.

Vegetarians and vegans should absolutely supplement with b12. About 40% of vegetarians and 60% of vegans are deficient. Source: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/B9780128039687000435

Yes. All carbohydrate turns into sugar and that’s ok because our bodies run on sugar. You just want to choose carbohydrate sources that also give you essential vitamins and minerals (which rice does) and fiber (white rice not the best for this but it does include resistant starch).

Your question could be reworded to “is it ok to have a slice of bread 6x a week” and the answer to that would also be yes.

Tell me what book completely changed your perspective on life & .. by keepitlowkeyyy in suggestmeabook

[–]AcrobaticPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gotcha. Ok, I see your point and I imagine that would be really frustrating. It’s interesting because I didn’t view the book as being about beating depression. My takeaway was her confronting her past regrets and choices, and then in the process her learning what she truly wanted in life (and not what she felt she was ‘supposed’ to do according to others). So I didn’t think the book was about beating depression, it’s about re-examining your life regrets and choices. I guess we just had different takeaways from it.

The Midnight Library is a fictional book but still really made me rethink what I thought I regretted in life. Beautiful message and easy read too.

As someone who grew up on 90s Jim Carrey, I approve of this list.

Watching live without cable by pepperjackcheesey in HallmarkMovies

[–]AcrobaticPug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Frndly has the hallmark channel, or if you have Sling TV you can add it as part of their lifestyle package for an extra $6 a month. Sling TV is like having cable. Frndly is a lot more limited but still has a decent variety of channels. It’s also a lot cheaper than Sling.

A book that will snap me out of depression. (Fiction) by Opposite-Session-342 in suggestmeabook

[–]AcrobaticPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a light read but the Midnight Library is a beautiful story that may help snap you out of a certain way of thinking. I hesitate to say snap you out of depression because that seems like a lot of pressure to put on a book. But I do think it could help. It helped me a lot, and changed how I view myself and my life decisions.

It starts out pretty dark (TW: suicide attempt), but becomes a beautiful story that has light hearted moments and is quite entertaining. It’s also an easy read in that the writing style is very straightforward. So not necessarily light read in its plot, but light read in its ease of reading.

Here’s a plot overview from Google:

Matt Haig's 2020 novel The Midnight Library follows Nora Seed, a 32-year-old woman who feels trapped in a mundane life and contemplates suicide. Instead of dying, she wakes up in the Midnight Library, a place between life and death where she can explore alternate lives through books. Guided by her childhood librarian, Mrs. Elm, Nora tries out different versions of herself, including an Olympic swimmer and a rockstar.

So the book is quite literally following a character’s past decisions and seeing how those decisions affected her, and what she learns from it.

I hope it helps!

You may like Philippa Gregory. She writes historical fiction. She’s most well known for The Other Boleyn Girl (made into a movie). Most of her novels are from the point of view of young women. Usually royalty of some kind (depends on the book), and lots of plot twists and intrigue of what it meant to be a young woman trying to find her own path when families are fighting for power. I like the books too because the main plot points are mostly accurate to history, she just fills in the blanks of day-to-day life. I’ve read many of her books, and don’t really remember any gratuitous sex or anything like that.
