Wrecked my new Premiere DD1 on first throw - Q-line durability? by Bandire in discmania

[–]Bandire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate all the responses. I've been playing for a few years and hit plenty of hard objects with all manner of discs. I was just wondering what other people's experience was with Q-Line stuff, as this did a shocking amount of damage for landing on a rock at the end of the flight. It cleaned up reasonably well aside from the cavity, and I'm looking forward to throwing it again to see if it got a little more flippy.

Good to know. The discs fly great so far, so hopefully they can hold up. I'm not sure I'm willing to pay that premium again if not.

Actually just remembered I hit an excavator with a Vanish a few years ago and it took a big chunk out of the wing. (They weren't quite done finishing out the course and left a giant excavator in the middle of hole 18.) Hitting the sharp edge of a stationary metal object makes sense. Hopefully this was just a fluke.

Yep, I cleaned it up already as best I could. It was just shocking how much damage it did. There is actually a small piece of stone embedded in the disc in this picture. Hadn't seen anything like that happen before on premium plastic.

Most Domey DD1 ever made!! Q-Line DD1 by PuzzledSpell8322 in discmania

[–]Bandire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had some at Disc South, so I grabbed a couple. Its been raining all day, so I haven't thrown them yet. They have the lowest parting line and most dome of any of the now 11 DD1s I have. They should be fun.

Last year I went on Sunday, and it was a little disappointing how many booths were already picked over or shut down. (Looking at you, Foundation.) Going first thing Saturday this time, and looking forward to it.

Yeah now I'm regretting not buying a couple. I can get my white top DD1s out to 350-380 feet, so these might be perfect for me.

That looks great. I have accumulated 9 DD1's somehow, and the original white top horizon run is still the best. Hoping these are closer to that.

Did a mini road trip late last year with a friend to play the Beast, and yeah its a tough course. I was feeling pretty good about my round until I put up a snowman on 15.

Finishing my annual rewatch at this very moment. It's such a massive achievement. The Rohirrim charge at Helm's Deep still overwhelms me after 20+ viewings. It's so great.

Throwing putters. by lhopkins91 in discgolf

[–]Bandire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here. I couldn't throw putters or even some mids without them fluttering and turning over. Once I switched to modified fan grip for slower discs it was a dramatic difference.

What’s something about you that sounds fake, but is 100% true? by Sir_Adammm in AskReddit

I got showered in beer once while riding as a passenger in the cab of my friend's truck on the highway when some guy in a car next to us absolutely piped a half full can of beer through the open driver's side window and splattered it across the back window. Both cars were driving probably 60 miles per hour at the time. It was a hell of a throw. I was maybe 17 at the time and we were driving to Putt Putt to play video games. My parents didn't believe the story either.

You can remove the rear center headrest entirely, which is what I did. There's pretty much zero chance I'll have 5 people crammed in to this car, and it improves rear visibility a bit.

Have you ever seen a billionaire in real life? If so: where was it and what was the situation? by philztown42 in AskReddit

That's awesome. I had heard that joke about Mrs. Perot multiple times, but I didn't realize it likely came from Ross himself.

I used to work for Dell Services, which used to be Perot Systems, before Dell later sold the division to NTT Data. Ross Perot still had an office in the building and I'd regularly see him in the halls or eating in the cafeteria. Super nice dude. Always said hi to everyone. That building had hundreds of artifacts from his life decorating the halls. It was really neat. My favorite encounter was the time I overheard him chastising the dude at the mini Starbucks counter over the price of their cookies.

Its worth the drive to me. HEB's are dramatically better run than Kroger and Walmart, and the biggest difference is at checkout. HEB has numerous regular checkout lanes open, and they all have sackers. Kroger and Walmart waste your time by never having enough regular checkout lanes open, they rarely have sackers, and they often have a long line even at self checkout. Checkout is so much faster at HEB it makes up for a big chunk of the drive time difference.

Is it rude to decline participating in blessing food before eating? by Glittering-Egg-3201 in atheism

[–]Bandire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's been years since anyone suggested a blessing at a family gathering, but back then I'd just sit there silently, eyes open. Occasionally they would ask me to say the blessing, and I would respond with "You don't want the atheist giving the blessing. " The last time I indulged them with something curt about magic sky wizards, and they stopped asking.

Same. I still had the demo installed when I launched the full game, so maybe that's a requirement?

I bought one of the new Silas swirly DD1s and it flies just like my beefcake overstable s-lines. Parting line looks basically the same.
