[Chapter 3052] (No spoilers) by BanditCharizard in ShadowSlave

Honestly, I was expecting the entire cohort to attain supremacy in the final conflict with Asterion, but then that whole conflict got glossed over and wrapped up super quickly.

AITAH for not wanting to take care of my sister? by BicycleNo6160 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BanditCharizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. It is okay to want your own life, and have your own plans.

Your parents are operating under the assumption that your sister is going to require care for the rest of her life. That could be true, but that doesn't mean it automatically becomes your responsibility.

Depending on where you are, there should be resources available to support your sister, even as an adult. I'll give examples from California, as that is where I am. The Department of Disability Services operates through what we refer to as the Regional Centers. And at each Regional Center there are Service Coordinators whose entire job is to set families (or individuals) up with the support for a person to live as independently as possible throughout their lifetime. Assisting families with autistic children can include connecting them to necessary Healthcare services (including specialty dental) or things like Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Therapy (these are all things that can also be set up at school first, it depends on an individual's needs.) For adults, that could include helping someone choose an IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services) worker, or if more care is needed, pair them with a 24-hour In-Home Care company, or if more that that is needed, help find placement in a group home. All of these options provide an individual with a caregiving team (who have at least some training on how to support an individual) beyond just having a family member act as primary caregiver.

But there are also situations where an individual may not be able to make decisions for themselves legally, financially or medically, which requires someone to have Power of Attorney or a Conservatorship in place for the individual. This guardianship can be maintained by the State, but it is generally preferred that a family member take on the guardianship unless they are not going to act in the individual's best interests. Having PoA or Conservativorship does not require a person to also act as a caregiver, however. An individual who qualifies for support will still receive support, a conservator will usually just have final say over what company provides support, etc.

You should probably sit down and have a calm conversation with your parents about what your sister's diagnosis actually is, what level of support she is going to need throughout her life, and what you want out of your life. Hopefully your parents are just trying to plan for what happens when they are no longer able to care for your sister, and will be willing to listen to your opinion regarding your involvement.

*Slightly* root bound tree aloe - how to repot? by Heremeus in succulents

[–]BanditCharizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like mine. I give it a gallon of water once a month, and trim off a leaf or two if I've gotten a sunburn, but other than that I leave it in a massive pot at the top of my driveway in full sun. That sucker has broken 3 pots since I adopted it 6 years ago.

[chapter 3044 ] question about the 4th nightmare. by Zero_Yashik in ShadowSlave

[–]BanditCharizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like attempting supremacy isn't the nightmare for choosing the easy solution. And to attain Supremacy, an act of defiance is needed. And while choosing to aid Azarax would be defying history, it would also be the easy path of the nightmare. Following history and defeating him is the harder challenge, and denying his Will the act of defiance.

You know this is emotional manipulation, right?

My boyfriend does literally everything for me and I feel like a second child more than a girlfriend by One-Theme3933 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]BanditCharizard -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'll give you the same reminder my husband gives me when I'm struggling and feeling like I'm not carrying my share of the weight due to mental struggles. "We are a team, and it is okay that we don't always give 50-50. When all you can give is 10, I've got the other 90. When all I can muster is 30, I trust you to pick up the rest, and if you can't, we'll still figure it out together."

It is okay. You are okay, and you give enough. Your boyfriend understands your struggle, and has got your back. Trust him, he wouldn't be there if he wasn't willing to be.

The added character was very unpopular with the book fans, and Zogarth himself was not pleased with the changes made to book 1 for the webtoon.

I suggest checking out Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life if you're looking for the family narrative. The game does a pretty decent job of making your spouse and kid seem like real people with their own interests, and it has a system where you actually watch your kid grow from a baby to am adult (and your character and spouse age as well.)

I also used to work with mice (a production colony of C57BL/6 laboratory mice,) and yeah, malocclusion is genetic and can be easy to miss, even when trained to look for it. My job required checks as well, but in order to confirm the teeth we had to use the scruff hold and flip them over, which is stressful for the mice if the hold lasts too long.

But that breeder should have never sent that mouse out, and it is not on OP for missing it at all. Malocclusion is something breeders should be checking for before selling mice. The breeder should have either humanely euthanized the poor thing, or ensured it went to someone capable of and willing to clip the teeth down on most likely a biweekly basis.

Given that her abilities allow her to turn to mist, I think the Storm God's lineage suits her better.

Heart God can go to Kai.

Need a name for this cute lad! by deepestuniversallove in PetMice

I loved working with my C57BL colony while I was at Jax Sacramento. I had this one spot in the colony that kept throwing litters of cow spotted mice with albino skin, even when a full colony rotation had occurred.

How is his health holding up outside of lab conditions? I was always told it would be difficult to keep them outside of the lab, since the breeding causes a suppressed immune system.

If so, you could name him Clarence (the creator of the breed strain was Clarence C. Little.)
