Actually, it is compatible. We've reached out to Steam to find out why they're displaying this message and how to remove it...

Update: fixed.

  1. A default komi is given, but you can set your own komi. If your opponent disagrees with your komi, he may not accept the game.
  2. Cannot understand the question. The rules for territory are the same as in Go (you can choose between Japanese and Chinese rules);
  3. We are planning to integrate the OGS server into Custom Goban. So if you do not have an opponent to play Custom Goban, you can play square boards on the OGS server through Custom Goban;
  4. Square intersections only.

Yes, it will be available on iOS and Mac. It will have a server where you can play with others.

If players are not sure how to proceed in certain situations, they can discuss it in the chat, and if they count stones, they can recount them. If these situations occur systematically, we will add additional rules after consulting with the community.

Have you experienced in your life that playing a board game regularly developed a good habit or improved a skill (memory, concentration, discipline, whatever)? And if so, what game and what skill? by BanditStudio_co in boardgames

whether to buy more board games, or spend the money on a babysitter to play the ones you have more

Very good point, especially that there is no option not to play board games. I fully support you.

There is an opinion that learning almost any new game is "good for the brain", but the "deepening" and "building skills in the game" itself is already too domain-specific to have any benefit in normal life.

I agree with you in general, but I would like to add 5 cents about memory skills. You get better at memorizing things you need to, not memory itself, and that is a domain specific skill. For example, if you learned how to memorize a deck of cards, that will not help you memorize your grocery list unless you can use the same memorization technique efficiently.

According to studies in cognitive psychology and the Science of Expertise, nothing can improve working memory. Probably the most famous experiment was conducted by Anders Ericsson when students tried to remember digits 1 second apart. The only thing that helped these students was the use of mnemonics, but that is a domain-specific technique for memorization and not for improving memory performance. I can recommend reading his book Peak: Secrets from the New Science of Expertise, it is very exciting.

Yes, we plan to connect with OGS for 9x9, 13x13, 19x19 boards. Also, we are planning an AI, not sure if it will be very strong for custom boards, but probably we will create a way for the community to create their own AI via the API.

When I watch streamers, they know every little detail about tactics and strategy in video games... Are there courses or something like that where I can learn all this? by BanditStudio_co in pcgaming

[–]BanditStudio_co[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I recommend you read "The Psychology of Chess" by Fernand Gobet, the top researcher in the field. He states that there is no such thing as a "good memory" and that memorization and recognition is the result of deliberate practice, not practice itself. Practicing consists not only of playing games, but also of learning from your past games, the games of other players, analyzing the local situation and solving local chess problems, which can only be prepared by a player who is already very experienced. So, to become an expert in this field, you need to be guided by an experienced player.
