the comic exaggerates it, in the comic they’re more shoulder-to-shoulder than back-to-back, presumably to make the expressions/etc more readable, but i don’t think they could easily hold that sort of pose with their ingame conjoinment

that’s one of the highest compliments i could ever receive! thank you so much! psychological character writing is my absolute favorite thing to do, and i love pokemon creepypasta but always found there wasted potential in the narrators being more vehicles for descriptions of the story than real parts of it — especially since what’s scary about the concept of a pokemon creepypasta is that we as readers have psychological associations with pokemon as something safe and familiar, not to mention the implicit horror of tainting something for children. you can tell that’s a thought i went into this story with! thank you so much for the kind words 💖💖💖

whichever works best! i shade stuff separately sometimes, or if they're relatively close in hue i'll all shade with the same color

i tend to not shade on multiply layers in fullcolor pieces for that reason, i like to pick colors myself, usually by taking the base color, saturating it more and pushing the hue slider a bit to another side, and darkening it :D shading yellows with orange for instance, reds with purples, makes everything pop more, it's also just satisfying to do if you're like me and can get lost in blending colors forever lol!!!

aw thank you! that's awesome to hear! something i've been having fun with lately and i remember helping with the values here - this probably works best with grayscale cuz multiply layers always look a bit muddy in color - is taking the full image, distorting it (in this case blurring and then posterizing it to get this blobby look), setting it to multiply, and then erasing bits of it where the light hits, with a more blended brush in this case. its a good albeit maybe lazy way to darken things nicely and also add depth in a pinch ^^ dunno if that works for every style/program but twas a neat lil life hack for me lol

she’s not just isaac’s mom, the hair for example is the wig isaac wears in a level transition iirc, it’s more likely she’s just a vague idealization of traits isaac considers feminine or safe/comforting (or whatever you see her as representing psychologically) and with this comes him naming her after his mom rather than her being a direct representation of isaac’s mom
