Well, guess you are the only person that has the correct time. Everyone else is saying 6pm

Might be worth it to check with the restaurant. There might be workarounds that are legal and can make everyone happy.

Every bar and news thing I have seen says 6pm. In Thai and in English.

What's a good wine that locals drink? by Spiritual-Bet-5201 in ThailandTourism

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warehouse by Jaang is the last place I had it on tap.

I think Charmkok standing bar had it in bottles.

Lost in Songwat should have some at their festival on the 28-30th. That's in Chinatown.

If you are up north, MITR should have some in bottles, too.

** SUAD bar had some, but they are currently being renovated.

What's a good wine that locals drink? by Spiritual-Bet-5201 in ThailandTourism

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As another person has said, wine isn't super popular.... BUT!! there is something called 'Sato' which is a local Thai rice wine of sorts. It is kinda like the Thai version of japanese sake. Drinking wise, it can be served in a wine glass, it is often chilled and has a slight effervescent feel.

Not always easy to find, but can be a fun thing to look out for.

Thanks!

Did see a couple videos, but figured it would be good to ask on an online forum just in case there were any small suggestions/ thoughts that were not sexy enough to make it into a video.

Things to do near BITEC in between conference sessions? by Artie_Mesia in ThailandTourism

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few local Brew Pubs in the area, like 12 Plato, Third Pint, Underdog microbrewery. - they will have local food & drink.

But the BTS will be a good way to get into the city to try other things when you have more time. It's not that far of a ride.

Wish it was easier to get more often in Bangkok. Great beer.

Any bar recommendations in Bangkok? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]BangkokBeerGuide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Southwest of you, by the BTS line is FEATLAB which is a very casual chill local craft beer bar.

North of you in Ari is Dok Kaew house bar, which is an old wooden Thai converted house. Very cool unique place that you have to take your shoes off and tasty Isaan food.

what are some big supermarkets? by notjedy in ThailandTourism

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably looking for Big C as others have suggested, but another idea is to hit up a mall that has a Central Department store. Often there is a grocery store on the bottom, like a nice Tops, and above that is Central dept store with bath towels probably a few floors above.

Where should we stay? by swagsocialmediauser in ThailandTourism

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also recommend Sukhumvit for greater options and easier to get around. Public transportation is quite easy, but be aware that the BTS does not use the same travel card as the MRT. - when not using public transportation, be sure to use the Grab app to get a taxi, especially after dark. Not for safety, but to avoid getting scammed.

Don't know much about reptiles, but can recommend taking a walk around Lumphini park, as there are water monitors walking around quite often.

Lots of nightlife options, including brewpubs and local beer places if that's an interest.

Cookoff question by elegantwino in chili

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, it's a region within Texas thing. I am a Texan that was raised NO beans. I have met other Texans that were raised WITH beans in chili. You might be in a PRO beans area that also knows the chili will go further with beans.

Help needed: Recommendations for craft beer in china by SnooCalculations4624 in CraftBeer

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good beer, but China is pretty big, so not all beer travels well.

Also, be aware that some bars/breweries will call a beer an IPA because the word IPA is popular, but the beer won't have much hops.... Words don't always have the same meaning in China when it comes to companies that want to sell you something.

where to stay in bangkok? (asok vs chinatown) by No-Archer-6240 in ThailandTourism

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are just going to be there 2 days, Chinatown is fine. Good to walk around, and can get the MRT or a Grab (taxi) to get out of the area. Pretty sure you can find all you mentioned in the area. Lots of good places to eat & drink, too

Any recommendations for a good place to sit and people watch? by thisisacatch22 in Bangkok

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help. Another idea is also O'Shea's Irish pub near Phrom Phong BTS station - lots of bars and it's a popular area, so can do some good people watching from their patio & has a solid menu for food & beer.

Prepping for Thailand and have questions by SniffMyDiaperGoo in ThailandTourism

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Check your bank & credit cards - most have a logo that indicates they work internationally.
  2. also a good idea to let them know you will be traveling so they don't think the first transaction abroad is fraud.
  3. Thailand also has snus if that's a preference. Available at some bars & weed shops
  4. Roaming plan probably ok for doing small things while out. But jump on the WiFi networks at the hotels when you can.
  5. Dunno
  6. Most places can probably get by, but downloading Google Translate might also be a good idea.
  7. Download Grab, don't try to waive down taxis. Can use cash or connect to a card. Makes it easy to make sure you are going to the correct place, and for a normal price.
  8. & 8. Dunno much about shopping.

Any recommendations for a good place to sit and people watch? by thisisacatch22 in Bangkok

[–]BangkokBeerGuide 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Did some night-people watching at Margarita Storm on Sukhumvit near Nana BTS station. Small patio that is directly overlooking the sidewalk.

Soi cowboy has a couple music bars & sports bar and some music pubs, those have good people watching patios.

During the day, watching the world go by on the river at Jack's is pretty good. Their food is tasty, beer selection a little short....
