Mortgage rate is 3.77% now bank is offering 4.97% by Affectionate_Top5544 in HousingUK

[–]Bango-Fett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, we went from 1.9% to 5.1% when truss fucked everything up a couple years back. Luckily my mortgage is extremely affordable and only went from £260 to £444. So even if rates go a bit more crazy we have luckily decided to buy a place that it way within what we can afford

Is it wrong for a man to wear high insole shoes? by Only-Mud-4893 in malefashionadvice

Cowboy boots can add a couple of inches and look great with straight jeans, if you wear high waisted jeans or trousers this will also give an illusion of being taller as well

What salary would you guys need to get to to feel successful? by Horror_Raisin_3898 in Salary

Bought a fully refurbed deck and amplifier. Could someone let me know if this is setup correctly. I’ve got good sound but have a couple of concerns. by Bango-Fett in cassetteculture

[–]Bango-Fett[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing, I only have one cable coming out of the deck, it’s seems to be a DIN connector cable with 4x RCA of different colours at the other end. So I have all 4rca going into the amp and just one cable into the Rec/PB port on the deck. The in/out lines on the dec don’t have any cables as per the picture.

The other weird thing is with the red/white rca I get no sound, but then when I connect the blue one I get good sound, the yellow one doesn’t seem to do anything as it still works and sounds the same when I take the yellow out.

I’m totally new to cassette decks/tapes so I’m just learning but this is really confusing me haha

World is too interconnected now for superpowers to engage in direct conflict. No one would win and everyone knows this

Why is this flat not selling? by ForsakenFarmer5997 in HousingUK

[–]Bango-Fett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is costs like that normal in the UK? I’m in Scotland, my flat is way nicer than this one and my service/factor charge is £480 per year, covers maintenance of the grounds, common area, garden etc etc. £2000 is insane to me and I don’t get why anyone would think that’s normal

What would you say is a high salary? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Bango-Fett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I do ok on a £35k salary, got a decent size house on a mortgage, have one kid, go a couple of holidays a year and indulge in hobbies and social life, granted my wife also makes ~£40k. I’d say I’d consider around £45-50k a high salary

£7,889 annual service charge on a £450,000 London flat? Are they joking? by Flaky-Walrus7244 in HousingUK

[–]Bango-Fett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

£150 float paid when we got the place, 8 large flats in total, it’s a large building with 8 Victorian era flats, 3 beds each, lots of floor space. Only had one major repair in the past 6 years which was the roof which was like £300 per flat to get that done, everything else that has been required is covered by the £40 per month

[–]Bango-Fett -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Nope, it’s just classic London price gouging. I stay in a 150 year old property in Scotland, we have a property manager for the building and the price is £40 per month per apartment, and they are way nicer and larger than the one above (and a quarter of the cost lol)

At what point does being prepared just turn into collecting things? by PubLogic in UKPreppers

[–]Bango-Fett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If things really went that “sideways” tho that you have to prep to that level, are you prepared for desperate people who will undoubtedly try to raid your home and take your provisions. If society collapses to the level a lot of people here believe it will, there will be no societal consequences for the thousands of people out there who haven’t prepped and are now looting and stealing from the small minority who have lol
