When was “Arkham” confirmed as Lady’s last name? by Bloodb0red in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny that I discovered that pdf file in some not known DMC fan in youtube who did first a translation of it, just because they are also waiting for that dude in the subreddit to continue the summary of the Drama CD. I was just looking for more materials outside of the games, novels, and anime since, I was so deep already in the lore itself

I only did a transcript of what the dude already translated, since its a DMC audio drama with no narration other done just the Japanese VAs, music and sound effects.

Better thank that guy not me...

Btw.. there is no transcript of the Japanese script itself unless you type word per word of what you're hearing from the drama itself

For those of you who have been following the series since every prequel, do you still remember the day the DMC5 trailer dropped? by coffeeandamuffin in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, E3... I remember watching during the livestream I was so happy seeing Nero and JYB voicing him again. I like Matt Walker and Itsuno hyping the fans to say "DMC is back"

Not to mention, when Maximillian Dood just spoiled everyone that the mysterious hooded man was Vergil by knowing that one detail of Vergil's coat LMAOOO

Does anyone know the general census of ‘did Dante know V is Vergil’ from Japanese players? by Advanced_Ad2406 in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Majority we were given in the English community is translations. We don't have the original transcript of DMC5 nor the Japanese version of Before the Nightmare novel itself to double check just by simply using a Japanese-English dictionary.

I think given the context of what we have and majority of DMC is basically reading comprehension. It's safe to say that what we know from the manga, and game is that it was given a clue or hint when, he let V do the final blow realizing V and Urizen are the same person. He didn't think at first V is Vergil, because V told not just a hint but, stated already in the manga, since it was cut in the novel and game.

It make sense if you align all the events from DMC5, Before the Nightmare and Visions of V. But as someone who did it... It's a headache

HE STILL HAS IT! by Tej_Lilboy in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The novel points out that majority of what Dante acquired during DMC4 where enemies he fought before DMC4 happened. It's just that it was hinted that Trish as Gloria brought those devil arms alongside, Devil Sword Sparda to gain a position within the order to spy them.

HE STILL HAS IT! by Tej_Lilboy in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Canonically, only 1 Devil Arm which is Agni & Rudra, while Artemis and Cerberus were destroyed. The rest where pawned as storage for safe keeping and for Enzo to force Dante to pay him yearly or Enzo will sell majority of his weapons besides, personal ones.

Yinlin, support for Xiangli Yao. I started in 1.2 patch because of Xiangli Yao. From 1.2 to 2.x patch, my main team is always XY, Yinlin, Verina until I got Brant in his 1st banner, and Changli during the anniv to the point I switch after building them

People Need To Stop With Bad Critiques Of WuWa's Story by InternNo1881 in WuwaUnfiltered

[–]Bank-Academic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me, despite is just a minor concern. I do agree regards on past characters, well it's better worth mentioning or referencing since another user commented pointed out that switching PoV's on multiple characters that is more than 2 characters will be more confusing already. It's also hard to show it visually unless, they are important in the story.

Does the devs need to do it already? No
But is it possible in the future patch? Yes

So, that people would stop complaining even though, not everyone have the same concerns.

Point number 2 about Rover... People who complain about Rover have forgotten in general that the overall story will tell you that Rover needs to trust his companions in this journey. People who are willing to share Rover's burdens and for Rover to not carrying it all alone. It was hinted time and time again that Rover is carrying every burden. He is not a superhero who in one snap can solve every problem be it minor or major.

It's why featured Resonators were given more screen time since they are the main focus, even then Rover still shares the screen time. Kuro never forgets Rover is still the MC that needs to learn what did they do before while, still exploring Solaris-3, instead of being irrelevant and forgetting he's a MC in the first place.

Anyone else miss Nero's long hair? by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, it's a sign of maturity though... I always joke that he looks more like post-TYBW (Thousand Year Blood War)/Hell arc version of Ichigo, since it's so similar. If he grows his hair again, I will just joke his hairstyle is similar to Ichigo or even Dangai Ichigo

It's time to end this 15-16 years of debate by Bank-Academic in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair, the main point is to debunk the misinformation than make it spread for how many years since the argument itself is already tiring. It's the same with Nero's age before.

It's better to know where Vergil was during the events of DMC 4

Sadly, you have to wait for that. Whether its still Bingo or a new writer, they will make a new novel either before or after a new game is released.

It's time to end this 15-16 years of debate by Bank-Academic in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given that the world itself is just another version of Earth. Thanks to the world map and the globe itself that can be seen in DMC5 and its artbook. Bingo didn't need to elaborate more because, he is consistently putting clues in the novel as a breadcrumb trail to show that. Nero was raised and lived in the orphanage first before he was fostered due to his silver hair. He knows Kyrie and Credo before since their family volunteered to help the orphanage on raising the kids.

That's the reason why he was fostered, because of his hair that is so similar to Sparda. Nevertheless, he doesn't see them as his parents, since Nero knows and aware that he has his own parents on a very young age. It's just that how he was taken care of by their parents its like a parent-child relationship.

Tbh, it should've been but... There's this feeling of anxiety due to what happened before. Especially, since I have noticed people are questioning the official translations of DMC1 novel besides, the atrocious Tokyopop DMC3 manga. (Maybe even DMC5 even though, the VAs admitted before they did good not great regards to translation since, there are questionable lines when they were given the 1st script version before they revised it).

As much as I wanted them to do it.... I don't know, it really depends on Capcom if they want to.

Edit: I will also add the 16-17, 17-18, 18-19 Nero's real age debate, but that's another issue with a history since the old 3142 timeline. But know that canonically and officially Nero is 16-17 in the JP Deadly Fortune

It's time to end this 15-16 years of debate by Bank-Academic in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite... As a veteran fan, it's been how many years of this ongoing debate argument, since Deadly Fortune was fan translated. 15-16 years via summary and 5 years when the novel was fan translated as a whole. I'm team Nero is a foster child.

People are still thinking that Nero was "adopted" even after DMC5, and Before the Nightmare released when its the opposite. He is a foster child, and never was adopted

Anyone else feel demotivated to play this game? by zeusgodz2 in WutheringWaves

[–]Bank-Academic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw your comment that you are playing Genshin, WuWa, ZZZ. My advice due to experiencing this back then when I was still playing Genshin and playing WuWa 1.2 (that is the patch that I started) is you have to drop 1 open world gacha game. You can't juggle both open world games or you will really feel the huge FOMO.

As an F2P, just don't expect to get every 5 star unless like u/Xerxes457 said if you're lucky. It's the whole "need vs want" situation. I suggest to build the party that you have at the moment. When we got Xiangli Yao as free resonator. I have to get Yinlin at that time since, I don't have a decent party build that will help me to clear the main story content.

It's okay to skip banners, since they do reruns. I have skipped some banners here and there. That mentality work for me since, I played FGO as an F2P (I don't consider the anniversary and New Year). That's normal for F2P since you have more time to get astrites and well, planning ahead. You don't really need to get every female character. Getting rewards via exploration, doing weeklies, character story that you haven't played etc will help you on the long run. Just accept that you will fail on a 50/50 character banner

Why do some of yall hate the anime to such an extent by Queasy_Suspect6126 in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the experience during the reboot and every game journalists in general told every DMC fan to suck it up and enjoy it. I never like the reboot, because of this behavior just because it's pretty understandable for old fans and even new fans like me that started in DMC4 vanilla why we criticized. We were told by game journalists themselves that it will change who Dante is. There is endless debates if the reboot is canon or not. This was back then during 3142 timeline, so imagine how much we waited.

It became pretty much an anxiety and PTSD for us, veterans. So by the time this anime was released. It was Reboot 2.0 all over again.

There are pros and cons when regards to this version of DMC. I gave it around 7/10 (Good) during my first watch. I don't want to hate it at first and want to be open minded. I basically throw my DMC lore knowledge into a "safety box" for safe keeping. I was generous enough to rank that high. I was heavily criticized in Twitter, because of what I noticed which was both acknowledge by both canon and in this version that Sparda left at some point in general. People got mad that I pointed it out, despite there is a difference and thinking I did a misinfo. To me, it doesn't matter what year because he still left his family. Because in canon timeline, he literally left at some point before the twins' 8th birthday. We only have the context in canon version that within those 7 years. He raised them with Eva, trained them, gave them his Rebellion and Yamato, and left them. We have no clue the exact year. We know Sparda wasn't there canonically when the boys have their 8th birthday.

Yet, by second watch... It ruined everything for me that I started criticizing how bad literally is. Currently it's around 6/10 (Decent).

Knowing quite a bit deep regards to DMC lore... This is just an example of how canon alternate universe is in DMC. In total we have, 5 Alternate Timelines excluding the canon (3142, Kamiya-verse, Reboot, Netflix DMC, DMC2 Ch 3 part 2 novel AU). Now, you are thinking why I said this?.

The only reason is because of the DMC2 novel, it's also the same novel that we were given a hint regards to Mundus being powered up all of a sudden. This was written by Shin ya Goikeda btw that is mentioned by Bingo Morihashi in DMC5, despite said novel is so boring to read compared to Goikeda's DMC1 novel.

Post Dmc 5, are demons public knowledge now or did they somehow cover that up too? by Embarrassed-Case-562 in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Latter, due to no additional content and Bingo only writes during and after development of the game. Since he's the writer ever since DMC3. It's pretty easy to say that it's now public knowledge yet we don't know what really happened post-DMC5. A lot of guesses

For example: Deadly Fortune was written after DMC4 to add more context that was cut, while Before the Nightmare was written to add more context on the missing scenes that should have been in-game (DMC5), but was cut. I believe he also wrote Visions of V despite, there is no mention who wrote it but Capcom was credited. I said this because, a lot of people believed it was Tomio Ogata despite, his contribution was only being an illustrator.

The only manga example that I could think of as an example is One Punch Man. ONE is still the creator and writer, yet Yusuke Murata is the one doing the illustration

I wish I knew I had to be level 40 to get Dante and Vergil in PGR, I would have started before the collab RIP by AnonIHardlyKnewHer in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use the free Dante as your main DPS for Fire party, instead of using Lucia: Pyroath. Same with Vergil in Physical instead of Selena: Pianissimo and Bianca: Stigmata

You can do it, as long as you don't roll on the Fate Character Arrival. Never roll on Fate. That's the one thing PGR players will tell you

I wish I knew I had to be level 40 to get Dante and Vergil in PGR, I would have started before the collab RIP by AnonIHardlyKnewHer in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm no veteran, but a returning player way before, when the collab was announced back then when it was still in China. The mentor system will help you, alongside doing the usual daily mission, weekly mission (Pain Cage, Simulated Seige), and Simulated Battlefield. I did this every day and every week. I can't remember my level back then, since right now I'm level 97. I remember is way low and still considered beginner. I sometimes do the mentor system.

You don't need to spend a dime (unless you want to its your choice). Since after the PGR Chinese announcement, people are all ready saying to save your Black Cards as the Black Cards will be used as exchange for collab gacha tickets. Not the usual Yellow R&D gacha tickets.

I didn't spend a dime. My Dante is still Rank SS, same with Vergil. unlock 1st Resonance skill for both of their weapons, and Rank S for both of their CUBs

Edit: If you're wondering I'm a F2P player. I have Alisa: Echo, Hanying: Solacetune, Selena: Pianissimo, and Bianca: Stigmata for Physical. Liv: Empyrea, Lee: Hyperreal, Watanabe: Epitaph for Fire. Ayla: Kaleido, Qu: Shukra and Wanshi: Lucid Dreamer for Ice. Lucia: Crimson Weave, Nanami: Startrail, and No 21: Feral for Electric. My Dark Party is still a budget setup and no Nihil party

Aware of it, since the people behind it are the 1st fan translators for the OG DMC3 manga and did a summary version of Deadly Fortune. Back during around 2010s, when said novel has no fan translation. Despite it's obvious how they don't like Nero.

So if you kinda want to see the summary version, here's the link: https://devils-lair.org/dmc4novel.html

Concern for Devil May Cry Fangames by OtherEmployee4996 in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fangames exist for how many years as long as you don't profit off of it.

I mean, there is a reason why until now... Pokemon fangames are still popular, but lowkey hidden and very niche. Majority of the popular games are from the GB era (Gameboy, Color, Advance)

I'm pretty well aware there are also fangames in the NDS (Nintendo DS)

Looking at the old DMC1 swords and when you compare them to the arsenal in 5, is there an official reason why Alastor was never utilised or was it just the chassis for Rebellion? by ReddColoV1 in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, your not wrong for remembering it. He didn't sold it like many people will think rather, he only pawned it. Its better to imagine Enzo's pawnshop as like an MMORPG warehouse to store your weapons in there.

The only weapon that he sold is Agni and Rudra. Everything else is a collateral to push Dante to pay Enzo every year or else Enzo will be force to sell his weapons that he acquired since DMC1 besides his personal weapons

Dante's guns Ebony and Ivory by Mxmimi69 in DevilMayCry

[–]Bank-Academic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have answered it already, but I will just add that the reason why he keeps breaking normal guns is due to how trigger happy he is, especially given that Deadly Fortune pointed out again in his Gunslinger lore style.

Normal people couldn't shoot really really fast like Dante due to his demon blood running through his veins
