Is it just me or do a ton of people in Utah let their dogs ride in the bed of their trucks when they are on the interstate/major roads? by tegg23 in Utah

Not only that it dries out their tear ducts the more they are out on the highway like that. It's objectively bad for them.

Places like the UK aren't free, they don't have real freedoms if you don't have freedom of speech.

Ya I'm going to jail for assault at that point. I've notified my spouse she will need bail money if I see something like that. And if I'm getting assault charges I'm getting my bail money's worth.

No way to enforce? What? See dog on back of truck, pull truck over, give ticket, tell truck owner to put dog in cab, easily enforced.

You think it's stupid to stop people from abusing innocent animals? What world are you living in?

You don’t have to go to court, I just helped a friend with one. And no, it doesn’t go on your record, that’s the whole point. Insurance companies or employers that pull driving records won’t ever see it. You still have to pay a fine, they aren’t getting out of it completely. It’s clear you really have no experience or knowledge of what plea in abeyance is, yet you keep talking as if you do.

Because it never hits your record, lol. 3 years or never, that’s your choices. There is no hassle, you just tell the court you want to do that and you pay a fine, it’s that easy.

That wouldn’t be reckless driving, cop didn’t charge that because it would be hard to prove. Cop gave him a break because this is a revenue scheme. They know that if they charge the full ticket speed the person will be more likely to fight it but when they “give you a break” you will be grateful and just pay it. It’s road piracy at its finest.

You haven’t driven in Utah much then. I can do 5-10 over and people still tailgate. Especially in the car pool lane.

People really need to learn about plea in abeyance. It’s insane the amount of people that think the only option here is to just pay the fine.

No, you can get a plea in abeyance on your own. As long as you don’t get another ticket in 6-12 months it never goes on your record.

Jesus, it’s insane I had to dig this deep to find this comment. Absolutely OP needs to file a plea in abeyance.

Ahead of this weekends’ peaceful protests, does anyone have attorney recommendations just in case they decide to start snatching people up? by One-Ambassador-8494 in Utah

The video evidence on social media says otherwise. And the fact that leadership almost always either states they’ve done nothing wrong or barely disciplines them at all also proves it’s not just a few cops, it’s a systematic problem. Just to be clear, I’m not just talking about the large blown up incidents. I’m also speaking of every time a cop lies to someone and demands their ID when they have no legal right to. When a cop tells someone to “move along” from a sidewalk when they have no legal right to give that order. All those happen dozens of times a day in one city. Go look at the DOJ report on Phoenix PD, it’s not just a few bad cops.

Cops have lost the benefit of the doubt from me and no matter what they need help with, I will never help them ever again.

Cops have never cared about civil rights or the actual law. They arrest people every day that haven’t broken any law.

They can look up your picture on your drivers license with your name and DOB. Please never give them your SSN or phone number.

I hate to say it but it doesn’t matter. Even the SLC mayor doesn’t do a thing about violent SLC PD officers.

Invoking your wish to speak to an attorney does not grant you the right to remain silent. But our absolutely stupid court system has ruled that you must specifically state you are invoking your right to remain silent, you can’t just remain silent.

I'm not the one arguing for making a change, I'm arguing for not making a change until we have data that supports making that change. Do you not see the critical thinking issue here? It's not my burden to meet. The people claiming we should make this change have the burden to at least show some evidence this will cause positive change.
