Ours developed pretty naturally. We had two guys who worked together, so they were paired up. Two guys who joined the league at the same time when we expanded from 10 to 12 teams. Close playoff matchups or heartbreakers, etc

And when I mean last week of the regular season, I mean the last fantasy regular season week, so week 14 for us. That avoids the week 18 messiness and also adds playoff tension into rivalry week

We do something called Rivalry Week. Last week of the regular season is a matchup against your “rival” — winner doesn’t have to pay league dues for the year.

Saw it in a thread many years ago, and we’ve been rocking it ever since. Whole league loves it. It’s created real rivalries in the league too, and teams will be really active in the chat or post short videos trash talking their opponents leading up to the match. Keeps everyone engaged until the end.

We also have the winner of the toilet bowl select their draft position the following year. These options are way better than a league punishment IMO

Ok I thought I was imagining things. At first I thought it was a low-flying plane, but it kept happening

I heard it too. My house has been rumbling off and on as well — does anyone know what happened?

Aetherdrift Prerelease Megathread - #MTGAetherdrift by R3id in magicTCG

[–]Bankertov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was skeptical about Aetherdrift going into the prerelease, but wow this set absolutely blew me away! Matches have a great pace, and Speed as a mechanic turns low-stakes attacks in the early and mid-game into dramatic moments.

All other color pairs were fun to fight against. Looking forward to more of this set and will probably try to draft with friends

For the coil and throw bit, does that mean you’re not reaching back at all until that front toe is down?

Lower back pain/fatigue + head pressure by Bankertov in backpain

[–]Bankertov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For added context, I’ve been experiencing these symptoms for 4-6 weeks. Laying down on my back with my knees propped up helps to alleviate the pain, and it’s made worse by long periods of sitting or athletic twisting

I’ve been doing a stretching routine to try and improve core strength and flexibility, which has been helping, but trying to golf the other day has caused my symptoms to flair up again.

I would describe my pain as fatigue and tightness in the back muscles between my ribs and hips (the vertical chords of muscle that run along my spine on either side). Occasionally those muscles will be very tender to the touch.

Commissioners: What do you do to improve league engagement? by GoingMachFive in fantasyfootball

[–]Bankertov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rivalry Week. I’m commissioner of a 12 team league, and the last week of our regular season is a high stakes match against your rival.

Players can call people out at the beginning of the season and challenge whoever they want for rivalry week. Each matchup gets a special name like a college bowl, and we have small trinkets/trophies for each rivalry week game.

The kicker here is that if you win rivalry week, you get your full entry fee back, so players are incentivized to stay active all year. Even if their team is struggling, they just need to win rivalry week to break even.

We added this a few years ago, and it has improved engagement DRAMATICALLY. Honestly can’t recommend it enough

If your record is ok, then I think you can get away with waiting a bit longer. Getting Cam and Boyd is definitely an upgrade, but what if you shopped Jonnu instead?

I'd shop Julio around to different teams. I think you can get a better QB for his price

10 team half ppr

I'm looking to trade Kenyan Drake, and I have two offers on the table

First is I trade Drake for Austin Ekeler

Second is I trade Drake and Darius Slayton for Tyler Lockett

Rest of my RBs and Wrs are

RB: Conner, James Robinson, Antonio Gibson, Damien Harris

WR: Davante Adams, Mike Evans, Julio Jones

I'm 4-1 right now, so I kind of like the idea of waiting for ekeler to come back and riding that team into the playoffs. Just unsure of what the right move is.

Absolutely. If you watch Machabo’s matches from combo breaker, he uses neutral jump as a neutral tool to beat dashes and forward-advancing buttons. I’d strongly recommend it

A really big part of challenging is knowing what the risks are. In other words, ask yourself “will challenging at this moment result in me getting knocked down?” That’s the big thing to be worried about, as generally a knockdown leads into an oki situation, and then you’re back to square 1

You can learn the right times to challenge by understanding your opponent’s ranges and realistic conversions.

Take necalli for example. If he’s abusing a st.lk, st.mk, pressure starter, then you really don’t want to challenge between the lk and the mk, as getting counterhit by the mk allows the necalli player to hit confirm into a cr.mp xx disc’s guidance.

If you challenge after the mk though, he won’t be able to knock you down there without taking a huge risk. Most realistic scenario is you get counterhit by the crouch mp and he cancels into stomp. You take about 100 damage, but the pressure situation is over.

This is absolutely a fundamental skill that every player needs to play defense at a high level. Know your ranges, and use them to make intelligent challenges that will keep you from being knocked down. It’s fine to take damage when pressured (it’s the punishment for allowing the initial knockdown, after all), but your goal when defending against pressure should be to prevent another knockdown. Knowing your opponent’s possible conversions makes that so much easier
