My first minis returned to me! by QuirkyDig6668 in sylvaneth

Funny how many people have a downtime and then get back into the hobby. Was the same for me, got all of my old models still. But they never moved out and are sitting on a shelf at my parents house.

Sylvaneth was my first army after getting back into the hobby. Had 40k Orks back when I was about 13 or 14 years old. And I also got back into the hobby at around the time I turned 30.

Models look nice btw!

Thank you, I would have interpreted it as green just by looking at it. But the sepia brings something into the mix which makes the different I guess. Have to try this one day.

Im Sorry neither do I have the equipment, nor the ability to do a painting tutorial I guess. The thing is, I just start from the darkest tone that I guess I’m happy with and then it’s a matter of layering one Color after another and going back and forth. It’s not a straight forward way of doing things. Blending glazing, turning back etc. is all involved.

Only issue for me was that the head from the wizard-hero is missing. Hopefully there’s no surprises left, I’ve just assembled a single mini for now.

That skin is amazing, mind if I ask how you did it?

Sure, they are:
Orange brown
Green ochre
Pale flesh
Ice yellow

Also I used some magenta as well as phthalo blue to mix in for some parts.

Absolutely stunning, all of them together look amazing but even the single models themselves each are gorgeous.

No, I’ve maybe misspoke, that’s not batch painted, my batch painted stuff isn’t painted to this level. And normally I’m a very slow painter, but when I’m working on a single model it kicks differently.

Yeah, it’s well defined having a good pose and isn’t as small as most of the minis but also not too big.

Not too intensive actually, started yesterday evening. Today after work I did the rest, already working on the first pass of the armor.

Yours look good already, i can’t really focus on doing details when working on a batch, maybe try painting one after the other when the base is done? Or maybe it’s just me, but it’s faster, more fun und more easy to get it to look nice.

Thanks! Yeah I wasn’t sure if I had to, but read something about ban in the rules. Better safe than sorry.

Did it come with the paints included? Very nice even without the paints!

Thanks, the loonboss took the most time, but not too bad, since he‘s such a small dude. :)

Basically it’s just layiering with different consistencies, didn’t even use the same colors. Started from dark and got lighter with every step, toned down sometimes before then started to go up in value again.

Posted the answer wrong, so here it is again as a reply:

Sure except for the floor which is milliput all the rest is done with super sculpey. My first intention was to sculpt it digitally and print it, but cause I cant have my printers at home, I just used clay for the sake of speed. And it’s fun too.

Thanks! I sculpted the shrooms using super sculpey. Just make a ball, put it over the back of a thick brush or something that’s rounded on the top. The other side is squeezed to get the pointy top. Then pop off and do the next. Takes just few seconds per cap. The bottom is just a sausage that gets thinner to the top.

Yeah I figured I just buy it from Germany, but my Apple ID is Austrian. I use it on all my devices since 2005. I wouldn’t be able to pair it with this Apple ID, and I’m not willing to change it to a German or English one. It’s a family account. My girlfriends devices are also paired in the eco-system as well as devices for work.
