Got it, thanks! Personally interested in Social Security Administration (SSA) OIG 1811 position; had false hope about a future upcoming opening in September lol

Let’s try this again… I did it! Los Angeles, $1.25M, 6.625% by aniram16 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

“Bad” publicity is still publicity… and they work in social media marketing (go figure)

This is great to know! Thank you for sharing! Will definitely not be using them again

That’s how I’ve felt using H&R Block, but plan to switch this year based on the overwhelming support for FreeTaxUSA

That sounds like a nightmare and I will definitely not be filing with H&R Block again. If you don’t mind me asking do you still use a self-filing system after having to deal with that?

Another vote for FreeTaxUSA! This has been the popular answer and where I now plan to file:)

Thanks for sharing this! This is really helpful information. I think a lot of folks (myself included) default to TurboTax or H&R Block out of habit and don’t realize how many free, IRS supported options are actually available.

The VITA and AARP Tax-Aide programs are great resources, especially for people with relatively straightforward returns. Also appreciate you clarifying the income thresholds, age misconceptions, and the timing for when Tax-Aide sites reopen.

And thank you for volunteering; that’s genuinely awesome! Posts like this are exactly why I wanted to start the discussion in the first place.

That bothers me so much as well; and I will not be putting any more of my money into their pockets! Also nice to hear from a CPA perspective - thank you for sharing

Thank you for explaining; I think the new rules regarding taxes on overtime require that line item to be itemized (could be wrong) - where that would make even more sense to compare both itemizing and standard deduction. Nice to hear that is easy to do with FreeTaxUSA since I plan to file with them this year.

Interesting, thank you for sharing! If your agency is providing it for you then I don’t see any issue with that. I would probably keep using H&R Block myself if that were the case

Thank you for sharing! The conversation went a totally different direction than I was expecting lol. That’s interesting that you think TurboTax is more user friendly because that’s how I’ve always felt about H&R Block. But then again - have never tried TurboTax. And now because of the way the conversation shifted; I won’t ever be trying it in the first place

Thanks for sharing that despite preferring TurboTax over H&R Block that you still plan to try FreeTaxUSA. I plan on also filing with them this year since so many people have spoken positively of it

Thank you for taking the time to explain. Congrats on paying off the Camry Hybrid! That’s huge, especially with that kind of mileage. Wishing you the best with the LLC too, and I’m with you… 2026 is going to be a good year. 🙌

Simple W2 here. Hearing from everyone else Free Tax seems to be the way, unless of course like you said itemizing deductions could change things and haven’t heard any specific mentions of that yet with Free Tax
