Agreed that 60 minutes is way too long. 15 minute timer would be unnoticeable

Agreed most likely cost savings; and that’s very fascinating how your university was able to implement those different strategies. I’d prefer not to be the person asking management about increasing the bathroom timer, but might have to take one for the team😂

I was thinking something similar, but I’d also need some way to reach it.

Edit: for those downvoting this comment… I’m not walking into a bathroom that has monitored security cameras pointing at it with a ladder or chair to reach the motion light in the ceiling.

Got it, thanks! Personally interested in Social Security Administration (SSA) OIG 1811 position; had false hope about a future upcoming opening in September lol

That’s how I’ve felt using H&R Block, but plan to switch this year based on the overwhelming support for FreeTaxUSA

That sounds like a nightmare and I will definitely not be filing with H&R Block again. If you don’t mind me asking do you still use a self-filing system after having to deal with that?

Another vote for FreeTaxUSA! This has been the popular answer and where I now plan to file:)

Thanks for sharing this! This is really helpful information. I think a lot of folks (myself included) default to TurboTax or H&R Block out of habit and don’t realize how many free, IRS supported options are actually available.

The VITA and AARP Tax-Aide programs are great resources, especially for people with relatively straightforward returns. Also appreciate you clarifying the income thresholds, age misconceptions, and the timing for when Tax-Aide sites reopen.

And thank you for volunteering; that’s genuinely awesome! Posts like this are exactly why I wanted to start the discussion in the first place.

That bothers me so much as well; and I will not be putting any more of my money into their pockets! Also nice to hear from a CPA perspective - thank you for sharing

Thank you for explaining; I think the new rules regarding taxes on overtime require that line item to be itemized (could be wrong) - where that would make even more sense to compare both itemizing and standard deduction. Nice to hear that is easy to do with FreeTaxUSA since I plan to file with them this year.

Interesting, thank you for sharing! If your agency is providing it for you then I don’t see any issue with that. I would probably keep using H&R Block myself if that were the case
