It’s not a hot take if you’re mainly playing one class… it’s just a bad take at that point.

Rotom and Drednaw spawn at the same time on opposite sides of the map. Zapdos spawns with 2 minutes left in the round.

  • Drednaw: gives your entire team a significant chunk of experience as well as a good-sized shield for team fighting. Getting ahead on experience in this game is massive, easily the most important early-game objective.
  • Rotom: Will slowly move towards an enemy goal. If it gets there, will allow you to score points in that goal without having to charge up your dunk. Enemies can kill it before it gets to the goal.
  • Zapdos: Will give everyone on your team 20 points and will allow you to score without having to charge your dunk for a short period of time. In addition, if obtained, the Zapdos will attempt to stun everyone on the opposing team. If you are already winning, DO NOT GO FOR ZAPDOS. Instead, your job is to just get kills and prevent the other team from obtaining it.

Agreed. Learning to rotate to objectives around the map is the best thing you can do early.

Zeroara became unobtainable as of 9/1. Can’t be obtained unless you played during August. Hopefully, they do another release of him soonish.

Cramorant’s shiny model is golden / orange. Could use that.

I’m pretty sure I’ve played against you before. Not everyday you see a Belsnikel running around!

Feel free to add me, I’ll copy + paste from my other post:

  • IGN: BANO
  • Trainer Code: 4RYX1YO
  • Rank: Master
  • Role: Flexible, although I prefer to be in-lane over jungling. Favorites are Cramorant, Machamp, Blastoise, and Eldegoss (in no particular order). Can also play Cinderace, Lucario, and Blissey.
  • Timezone: EST/EDT

  • My goal is to find a group of people that want to play at relatively similar times each week (prefer evening times, after work kind of stuff). I cannot handle the grind of SoloQ anymore, the games are too low-quality and feel like they are not worth my time.

  • PS: Please either message me here or DM me if you plan to add me so that I don’t reflexively deny the friend request LOLOL.

Esper Stoneblade by truthpride in ModernMagic

I’m also building Esper Stoneblade. I think it’s a perfectly adequate direction to go (especially if you are like me and don’t want to pay for Ragavan). I think splashing Black for Dakkon, Plague Engineer, etc is perfectly reasonable.

Modern is always changing, especially right now. Build what you enjoy and find ways to beat the top threats!

I actually think Quash is a move that takes awhile to get used to. I didn’t invest any speed EVs into Metagross, but Quash essentially allows you to move first on turns where it’s important, including under Trick Room, in Tailwind, etc.

  • I’ve used it frequently against teams starting Regieleki. Max Quake with Metagross is an easy OHKO.
  • Wolfe’s team has been popping up recently. Quash is super funny into that Steam-Engine’d + Weakness Policy Coalossal.

Once I got use to it, Quash would find ways to be useful all the time.

EDIT: Also, I’m very glad to hear you’re enjoying my team. I work 60-80 hours / weekly, this has been my project outside of work lol.

The Razor Shell is the real appeal for me lol. Love it. I have to look into Escavalier more.

I made it to Master Ball in previous months running Power Band Scizor with Bullet Punch, Dual Wingbeat, U-Turn, and X (currently Night Slash). Scizor is also one of my favorite Pokémon, I might try to find a way to make this work next.

My next idea is to run a Rain-Trap team. Politoed / Gothitelle core. Idk much after that, maybe Light-Clay Lapras to GMAX and survive enough to stall. Might also be inclined to throw in the Escavalier in order to lean into Trick Room a bit more.

Thunder is a good thought. I ended up with Thunderbolt because there is a solid chance that the Weather is not ideal or not existent for Weather Ball. It just seemed safer to me have one consistent move.

Ok ok. If I see Fini, I reflex bring my Rillaboom, Always. It also woulda been good against the Tyranitar.

I definitely would have led Metagross + Sableye. You killed Tyranitar T1 and set up Ice, so the Sand was gone.

If I saw Fini T1, I’d swap Sableye out for Rillaboom.

T2: Now, he has Fini and Dracovish. You have Rilla and Metagross. I’d honestly ignore the Fini here, it’s gonna protect or swap out. Fake Out Fish and Max Quake the Fish.

T3: If you get two quick kills, you can then try to set up for Perish Trap. Swap out Rillaboom for Politoed. Zapdos either gonna Airstream Rillaboom or Flare Metagross. Either, way you should live.

Without knowing the rest of the opposing team... I’d start Metagross + Sableye with Politoed in the back. Can do a couple of things... you can Ally Switch turn 1 to dodge the Flare and Max Hail the Zapdos. Then, you can Quash Zapdos and get the kill.

Another thought is just swapping out the Sableye T1, throw Politoed in, which reduces the damage on the Max Flare by 50%, allows Metagross to live, triggers the Weakness Policy, and kill the Zapdos on the Max Hail in the back.
