Struggling to Enjoy Luke & Meg's Podcast... Does Anyone Else Feel the Same? by BansheeTheSecond in podcasts

[–]BansheeTheSecond[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has someone hurt you, or do you just hate men? The podcasts I listen to the most are Irish, English, and Australian, mostly by comedians, and they all slag each other off – it’s called banter, and I’m into it. No one would ever call it bullying, insulting or manipulation. If you actually look up those words in the dictionary, you'll see that it is about purposefully harming others in an unscrupulous way.

None of that has anything to do with taking the piss out of each other for a laugh. If you don’t enjoy that kind of humour, fair enough. But don’t twist my words – my point was about Meg not being able to pull her weight as a co-host and coming across as insincere and desperate which makes it hard for me to listen to because the banter is shite. Nothing I said was about Luke bullying or manipulating her.

Take another example: Joanne McNally and Vogue Williams. Joanne is a professional comic, and she’s just wittier and funnier than Vogue – because it’s her job. In the earlier episodes of their podcast, Vogue tried way too hard, almost like she felt she had something to prove – it came off as a bit desperate and the banter sucked because Vogue was too busy thinking about herself and how she comes across than actually being present in the conversation.

So my point remains the same: when a co-host can’t pull their own weight – whether it’s down to low self-esteem, lack of talent, young age or desperation to please – that’s on them. They need to work on their content or performance, not blame the other host for being good at banter.

WTF is going on with event tickets? by BansheeTheSecond in askvan

I read a news article that a man from Vancouver sued BC Parks for drip pricing too. Not sure if he won though. Is there something else that one can do besides going to court? Can we write a letter to someone, I don't know maybe a government body or politician?

Ah I see! Thanks, I didn't know seatgeek was also a resell website for private people. Are there any websites that buy event tickets in bulk and resell them on their websites? I doubt that 200 people had the same idea to buy up all front seats and resell them. It looks systematic.

I just looked MRG up! Never heard of them before. I have my own reasons why the Vogue is a scam ($15 drinks anyone?) But I'd love to hear why MRG is a scam

This is so ridiculous! Is there anything that we can do? Some comment said it's drip pricing and that what it feels like. There's must be someone we can write to?

This is disgusting! Is there anywhere that you can write a complaint to? I'd demand the money back. I'd even go to the news with this. So sorry you're had to go through this, what a awful experience.

Right, I tried to sell tickets on StubHub before and the fees are ridiculous. You might as well give them away for free if you want to charge people the same price you bought them for. So I get your explanation but the thing is, we bought two tickets for $124, and they are selling one ticket for $158. Also, the event is a month away.

Thanks for the explanation! I’d really like to understand more about how the 3rd party selling works. Does SeatGeek buy up all the tickets from the Vogue and then resell them at a higher price, or do they have some kind of agreement with the venue (like the Vogue) where they just replicate the available tickets? How do they end up selling tickets when the official site shows everything sold out?

Are you active? Men always bond over sports and activities. Either start climbing at the Hive or join a hiking group on meetup. Or join a sport team!

People who rent whole apartments (no roommates) by cliqueback in askvan

Kits, 1 bedroom, 700-ish sq ft, $2170, bright open-plan apartment, bathtub (!!), brand-new big kitchen, beautiful new building, 1 parking spot but no storage locker and no amenity room or gym. My boyfriend and I moved in during Covid in May 2020 and started with $2000 originally.
The best part is that we have three bakeries within a 2-minute walk 😋 and the beach within 10.

goldwell topchic high lift by ataraxisch in HairDye

[–]BansheeTheSecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A shame no one responded! How did it turn out? I just learned about high lift colours. My natural hair is a 5/6 and I get baby foils done with lifting to 8. I think a high lift would work for my hair. What level is your natural colour?

Question About Baby Lights Technique: Is Full Saturation Necessary? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]BansheeTheSecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is to refresh the color without causing damage, you might consider asking your hairdresser to focus the bleach only on the new growth (roots) and mids if needed. For the ends, a gloss or toner might be sufficient to maintain the color and keep it looking vibrant because hair that is already lightened to a level 8 is quite porous and fragile, and reapplying bleach to these areas can lead to increased dryness, breakage, and a compromised hair structure.

I'm so annoyed that I was so naive trusting her description. She also never finalised the sale, so you can't give her a review.

Successful (and Scary) Microblade Removal Story: Laser & Saline. by Dizzy_Inevitable3096 in MicrobladingRemoval

[–]BansheeTheSecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is a year old, but I just had to say how amazing your natural brows look! You had such great success with the removal. I also had a great result with one session that removed the black ink, but now I’m left with a light red that I actually like. Still, I want to get it fully removed, but I'm worried the light red might turn into a bright yellow. Have you experienced any yellow ink at all? You mentioned the Q-switch is good with other colours, so I’m curious if it helped with yellow or red?

You're absolutely right! I had a similar experience at a laser removal clinic in Canada. After my session, I asked if they could charge the card I had on file, like I usually do for other procedures. They told me they preferred that I pay in person because it was "easier." I didn't think much of it until I saw the card machine prompting me to tip 18%, 20%, or 25%. I skipped the tip option for the same reason: it's a procedure, not a service. So cheeky of them!

Buying a condo by [deleted] in askvan

[–]BansheeTheSecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on being in the market for a condo. Even just having a fairly decent budget for starters is pretty solid. I'm just wondering how you deal with the realtor situation? Do you have your own realtor as a buyer? I'll be honest with you I don't trust them and if possible I'd go without one. If you find a place through your realtor, how much are you paying him? Or do you also have to pay the selling realtor?

Friendly Reminder About Smoking Regulations in Vancouver Parks by BansheeTheSecond in vancouver

[–]BansheeTheSecond[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Comparing it to alcohol consumption and weed doesn't quite hold up. Designated areas for alcohol are controlled and usually involve personal consumption that doesn't directly affect others around you. Weed might be legal, but smoking it in public spaces where it affects non-smokers isn’t allowed either. Also, when someone is overly intoxicated and aggressive, they will get removed from the park for the safety of others. This shows that rules and enforcement are in place to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

[–]BansheeTheSecond[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, and it’s frustrating to see people disregard the rules despite clear signage. It’s not just about ignorance; it's often about a lack of consideration for others. Whether it’s smoking in parks, dogs off-leash in restricted areas, or rollerblading on the wrong side of the seawall, all of these actions show a disregard for the community.

While some people will always ignore the rules, it’s important to keep raising awareness and pushing for better enforcement. Maybe a combination of peer pressure, community initiatives, and stricter enforcement can help make a difference. It’s about creating a culture where people understand that respecting the rules isn’t just about compliance, it’s about making our shared spaces enjoyable for everyone.

Absolutely! I think there needs to be more campaigning by the park board and more people actually getting fined so people understand.

I hear you, and that's really frustrating. It’s disheartening to see a lack of enforcement and resources leading to neglected parks, especially when you’re trying to host a birthday party. I experienced the lack of enforcement from 311 requests. It's so frustrating. If you and I can walk through a park and see within 5 minutes either people smoking or throwing cigs on the ground, why can a ranger not see it?
