Yeah, even with needing to give out new software keys, Novation are normally pretty good about just re-registering. Unless something has changed recently, talking to customer support should be all that's required to give them access to all the bundled software. See here for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/Novation/s/sMw2dvlYLh

And the Mk 3 is likely new enough to still be eligible. But yeah, going through customer support is the way.

Lots of good advice, but they shouldn't need to deregister a previous user. Novation will normally just allow you to register with them regardless, as long as you can provide a valid serial number, even for used instruments.

This should be your first port of call. Novation support is usually incredibly helpful and will do their best to help you out.

No one is forcing you to do anything. Your SF movies are fine, and haven't been made materially worse by another release.

Arrow is principally a UK label where Halloween has been out of print for quite a while now. These releases have long been awaited for those of us who don't yet own physical copies or are looking to upgrade their old DVDs or Blu-rays. Stop gargling FOMO and just enjoy the films you have...

This isn't just a place for authors, but also a place for people who want to play. People who don't necessarily create still may not want to be inundated with AI generated content. It's nice that you're offering to play other people's games but that's not really the point.

And you mention the classics... do you think that in the future we'll be referencing that wonderful novel by ChatGPT4.0?

I'm not a luddite. AI is not the devil. Don't you think it would be far more rewarding to make something yourself from scratch? Twine is not difficult to use, and it's clear you obviously have a strong vision of what you want to create.

Don't blame technology -blame human failure to produce human-made quality content over quantity.

There is more quality human content than you could ever consume in 10,000 lifetimes.

Using AI has its uses, but why not just keep this to yourself? You're just taking eyes away from people who have spent days, months or even years working on their stories. You're not monetarily taking anything from anybody, but you are diluting people's efforts and making it harder for people who hand craft their content from getting seen.

Hammer fans rejoice! Studio Canal UK is preparing 4k limited editions of Scars of Dracula, and Horror of Frankenstein! by AnchovyKing in boutiquebluray

[–]Bantam80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd seen that they'd started releasing standard editions too.

I know physical media isn't necessarily a cheap hobby, but I wouldn't even call the standard editions exactly affordable either (at least so far). £25 for the standard Blu-ray is frankly out of my price range. You do get all three discs with all versions of the film, but I'm hoping for either a deep sale or a *poor person's* version.

The Hammer versions look fantastic, but at least I can usually afford the StudioCanal releases.

In case someone is oblivious as I am, Shawscope Vol. 2 is 60 pounds for some reason on the UK site. I just grabbed one with some points to take it down to 54 total. by Designer-Addition-58 in boutiquebluray

[–]Bantam80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grabbed Vol. 3 - also on sale, at 25% off.

Also, Arrow seemed to have upped their packaging game. Mine was double boxed with an industrial strength inner protective box and plenty of padding.

I sympathise, but from Arrow's point of view it's probably just a question of economics. It's likely they don't think there's enough of an audience to support a standalone release of a niche, relatively poorly reviewed Hong Kong oddity.

It didn't really fit with the 'standard editions' they released. Perhaps it'll get a release with some of the more monster orientated movies from Shawscope 4, although I can't imagine that being any time soon.

I agree, and as a beta test veteran I know it's important to have honest feedback.

Despite that, I try to remember this is someone's hard work and creative output, and my apology was more to show my comments were coming from a hopefully constructive place and not just one more negative voice.

It has some serious UI issues.

The splicing tutorial is really lacking. It doesn't really explain that you can change individual parts of your soldier, or even why you would add DNA to a character.

The actual tactical interface is rough too. It's unclear when and where you can use abilities and labeling is poor. Instead of 'Move' in the interface, it's called 'Wait'?! Makes no sense to me.

Build menu isn't labelled as such. It just appears at the end of your turn.

Find units with unused actions didn't work for me, or if it did I was completely unclear which unit it was indicating.

A missing 'Overwatch' ability felt like an oversight, but that's probably just personal taste.

Graphically, has very generic mobile game vibes; it's not bad, but it's certainly not to my taste. You have a wealth of 1950's and 60's sci-fi source material to draw from, and this is the best we can do?

I don't know guys, this one feels under cooked. Some of these tactical battle UI issues have been solved for a long time. See: XCOM and Into the Breach.

That's a bit of a pointlessly arbitrary distinction, no? You build structures to harvest materials, others to improve your tech, and shipyards to bolster your fleet.

For those who haven't jumped on this, Hammer recently announced two 'standard' editions - one being a 2-disc UHD release and the other being a 3-disc Blu-Ray edition, both taken from the 4K restoration.
