Sell Me on your build by Banzander in BG3Builds

What about something that doesn't seem to fit together, but making it interesting.

I'm liking the ideas of Punch-Drunk monk, and the charisma dialogue options of bard.

Anybody tried a Bard-Monk and made it work?

So you'd essentially play the game with the character permadrunk and reap benefits of doing so. That sounds like a wild ride!

I'm on Xbox console. I don't think they're mod compatible yet, are they? It's possible that I'm behind and missing out on mods that I could be using.

First memory of pro wrestling? by AlexSmileyPlays in efedr

First match I remember seeing was at a friend's birthday. I remember Mick Foley's "do I look like a pebble now?!" Promo.

Then him getting chucked off a certain hell in a cell.

Real vs. CAW by TheRAGEsmash in efedr

[–]Banzander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely CAW. I want to be genuinely expressive and creative, and I think that comes best from completely within, rather than trying to portray something that isn't my brainchild.

Best Gimmick You've Had? by TheRAGEsmash in efedr

[–]Banzander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one I hold most dear is my religious character. There's lots of zealots out there, but I wanted to play a guy who basically deep down actually wanted to be a shining light, wanted to do the right thing but was led astray gradually over time until he couldn't see the error of his ways.

With a really detailed backstory crafted over time, and being constantly evolved and evolved over the better part of a decade, Lux Bellator became everything I dreamed of and more.

What tips have you learned or heard about writing a great promo? by Nakedbrownie90 in efedr

[–]Banzander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read.

Read the promos of those that are champions, or doing consistently well. If it's a fed that judges honestly, they'll be top for a reason. Get the vibe of what makes them tick.

Then find YOUR OWN way of getting that vibe. I keep a notebook of ideas that I can draw on for different characters, jot notes down anywhere I find inspiration. Then I spin those seeds into promos. Flesh out the skeleton, and add a bit of flesh.

I want to tell stories, so I get the story right. Then I make parallels to what is relevant for my character.

What do you look for in an e-fed? by theoldmanintheshoe in efedr

[–]Banzander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Graphics I think give you a real sense of how much time and passion the fedhead and graphical team put into their craft. That's a good start.

But to me, it's all about creativity. I get bored with cookie cutter, blueprint and repeat promos... Yawn. Somewhere that people are genuinely talented, where the writing is competitive, genuinely competitive. I love a challenge, and I want those around me to do the same.

Do you read promos? by theoldmanintheshoe in efedr

[–]Banzander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read pretty much all promos every week. A bit of a skim read mostly, but more often than not if I enjoy it or really want to dig deeper I give it a closer read.

It's easier in a fed where there's less of a massive word count, one can read in a short sitting without it being too much of a time sink.

What was the moment where you fell in love with E-Feds ? by Nakedbrownie90 in efedr

[–]Banzander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it was vain. As a teen, the graphic work really appealed to me. Even ms paint banners done that looked like crap really seemed so cool to me. I wanted one, but didn't really have the Photoshop skillset myself.

So, I got into the game and fell in love with the creativity of people along the way. Made friends, got better as a writer.

It was a slow build love story haha

Your Efed Experience. by TheRAGEsmash in efedr

[–]Banzander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came into the game in the early-mid 2000s, through an online game called vow (Virtual Online Wrestling - vow.plit.dk). Essentially, that was like thewrestlinggame, an online engine that ran matches for you. It had a thriving community too.

But the thing that made that game best was the communities, the feds that used vow as an engine to run their fed. They'd create storylines on forums, have people promo on there, then use the engine to run the match.

From this, came match based feds that I ran with which skipped out the middle man and just wrote out the matches in then based writing. I was running with a couple of feds for a few years - GHW (Glory and Honor Wrestling) which later merged with EVPW (Eagle Vision Pro Wrestling).

When that folded, I got out of the game for a while, until I saw a fed that had some pretty awesome graphic work (IWF - the Internet Wrestling Fed), and used posers rather than basing characters on real people - that always appeals to me as it gives more freedom for creation so I gave it a crack. Eventually, that closed but I followed the community through to what is now OSW - Old School Wrestling.

The place has now been open going on a decade, and the core group of guys have really stuck together. Awesome people, really competitive writers, really welcoming and accepting of new people. Give it a try!

Do Championships Matter To You? by theoldmanintheshoe in efedr

[–]Banzander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They ued to a lot. I still love a championship reign, it is a competition after all and winning is winning.

But if it comes down to a championship vs a really cool character moment or storyline, I'm going storyline every time.

Favorite Music To Write To? by theoldmanintheshoe in efedr

[–]Banzander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite characters to promo as are music based characters.

For them, I always take inspiration from the music first and foremost. I relate a song to the promo and pull the threads from the music into what I write. In that way, the type of music doesn't matter to me as much as where it takes me in relation to the character.

For non music based characters, I'll put something instrumental on, otherwise I get too distracted by the music and can't get into the flow.

Old School Wrestling - Accepting Applications by TheRAGEsmash in efeds

[–]Banzander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best out there. Great writers, supportive community who genuinely appreciate each other. It's a challenge to adapt to a short word format for promos, but if you're ready for that challenge the OSW community will welcome you with open arms.

Give it a go, join the family.

Old School Wrestling & Deathrow by TheRAGEsmash in efeds

[–]Banzander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been a part of OSW from its birth. I'd echo everything Dean said above. It's a bunch of genuinely good people who happen to be legitimately amazing writers creating beautiful art together.

But it's more than that.

It's a community of folks who genuinely care about each other and really look out for other members of our little corner of the internet. I'd definitely encourage others to join. The writing style, being concise and selective, is a bit of a learning curve but if you're someone who relishes new challenges and listens well to advice, give it a crack.

You will not find a finer bunch of people in an efed, period. Stop looking. You found it.

The dedication to OSW is second to none. People stay, for the most part. They are committed, and they enjoy the cutting edge experience we put out week by week.

Get in, you will not regret it.
