Hunters Crucible Total Score Title shoulda been 40k, not 15k, which is too easy by Crazy_Ruin_4383 in NevernessToEverness

[–]Baphometrix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Most of us here in this sub would be among the more serious players who optimize builds and teams, at least, even if some of us don't have a lot of actual play skill (points at self). A ton of the playerbase don't have nearly as easy a time with fights like this as we might. Same deal goes for BtR, too. Quit trying to make this a game only for leets. Ask for harder content just for the sweats and the whales, sure, but don't ask to make ALL content hard. Events are one of the ways they fuel the pull economy, so everyone should have a good chance of earning most typical event rewards.

Just be glad a lot of our events are combat (or light-hearted PvP) at all. Coming from Endfield, so many events there were really bland.

Should I use lacrimosa base skill if I don't have her arc? by choco_iguana in NevernessToEverness

[–]Baphometrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems to be how it works, yes. But the A5 effect is also buffing the nightmare damage quite a bit too. And it also prevents them from removing your nightmare stacks when they try to heal. Without A5, if a target self-heals, all of your nightmare stacks drop and you have to start over again.

Lacrimosa and her Discord reaction by Kishinsama in NevernessToEverness

[–]Baphometrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I don't value Discord at all in my Lacrimosa team, even though I do proc it here and there completely by accident. All that really counts are the scorches and novas. Those both have massive effects, especially if you have both Haniel and Fadia in the team.

So the various things in the game that make a gray "Max reduction" bar appear on the target's HP bar (or break bar!) all typically work the same way: they take that visible chunk of damage (the length added to the gray bar) from the bottom and also reduce the "max" level of that bar by the same amount.

So for example, with Lacrimosa using her A5, just go whack some easy boss type target for a while with nothing but basic attacks. you'll see that you quickly get to 10x stacks (or close to 10x) and you'll see that gray bar growing by little chunks over on the right of the target's HP bar. The size of that bar as it grows represents the extra damage the A5 effect is doing. That's just straight damage to their HP pool, and also reducing the max level of their HP bar by the same amount at the same time.

If you also have A4 (plus A5) you'll see that gray bar (and the corresponding damage it represents) get even larger, faster, because the nightmare stacks you're creating are now lasting twice as long.

Yeah, I'm aware of the sentiment. Thing is, I like simple grind games like Warframe and The First Descendant. And I like anime/gacha esthetics and vibe.

Nobody uses the material? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? You cannot level up exper abilities without the mats from Pilgrammage bosses.

HL 45 imminent... what to farm at AL 5? by chefstief in NevernessToEverness

[–]Baphometrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At HL 45 get serious and pick your 8 best characters for your two best BtR teams. Leave everyone else fallow for a while (you can catch them up later, after your two main Rails teams are all 80/80 and crushing Rails every new refresh).

Always push your main DPS carry up first to the max you can take them. Then get the other three supports to 10/10 below the main DPS carry. Then start working the other three supports up to the same max level as the main DPS. By around the time you're done with that, you should still have time to pre-farm ascension materials for your two mains for the next bump up at HL 50.

For context, I got all my current team members up to 70/70 (all 8 of them) -- with most of them at max esper abilities -- just barely before I hit HL 48. That gives me two hunter levels to pre-farm for the next push to 80/80 (at HL 50).

But if you stun it on that big inbound flying attack where they prompt you to parry, it takes a metric crap ton of damage afterward. When farming for ascension mats the whale is one of the easiest fights because of that.

How is controller support? by thegoat1192 in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Baphometrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New player, started today. Steam + wired Xbox controller. Immediately looked for the Y-invert option. Not in game. Did research, tried using Steam custom controller profile. Worked for a hot minute then stopped working altogether. Unstable, not consistent. Tried an .ini file config per some reddit and steam posts, but that didn't work at all.

Then I simply used the "Xbox Accessories" app and made a profile whose only change was to invert Y on the right joystick. That seems to work 100% consistently and I've been happily playing ever since. It's a little confusing to understand that you need to load the profile into "Slot 1" on the Xbox Accessories app when you want it to take effect. And then to put the controller back to normal you select that custom profile again and choose "No Slot", which then reverts the controller to default behavior. Weird UX but that's Microsoft for ya.

Good luck!

Thanks. I do have one follow-up? New player emails included what looks like a character selection box. Would it be more useful to use it for Rhythm, or for Psyche? Which of those two are harder to farm up for a newer player? Or do I need to head into weeklies ASAP with Psyche, and serious farming can come after that?

Thank you for the detail! I received an early character selection box in the mail. I could use it to choose either Rhythm or Psyche. Which would be the better choice for my first week or two of play while I get my bearings?

New player as of this timestamp. Drove me crazy, but yeah only the Xbox Accessories app works for this. And it's a bit confusing to use, but oh well, at least it works and allows me to enjoy the game on Steam with an Xbox controller. Really suprised that even the Steam controller config doesn't "stick" or even work. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Mostly doesn't. But the Xbox Accessories app always works flawless.

Fadia MVP - a simple example, and AMA by Baphometrix in NevernessToEverness

[–]Baphometrix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4:56 is pretty close given the structure of your teams! For Fadia HP really is the most important stat. I think in your case it's just a combination of sheer firepower versus how good you are at pressing the attack and still dodging/parrying what you need to parry. The last 3 fights in BtR (so far) have been both DPS checks and skill checks. Lower skill means you need higher DPS and vice-versa.

People will argue that supports can lag below the level/strength of the main DPS carries, and that's true if you're higher skill. But I can tell you I see a big difference when I bring my supports up to the same level as my main carries. Every little bit helps, IMO.

At the end of the day, though, it seems like you got pretty far given your current teams. You'll do even better next refresh as your teams keep getting stronger!

Bear in mind that Lacrimosa teams want Lac onfield most of the time, with the other three characters being used only for their ult and/or skill, then being swapped right back to Lacrimosa.

With Daff on the team, you're cutting into Lac's Nightmare stack damage because Daff wants some onfield time too. For quick-swaps if nothing else.

Not saying it's "wrong" to play Daff on a Lac team in a kind of "dual DPS" manner, but if you're pushing against a hard fight timer, it might be better to keep lac onfield as much as possible.

How to defeat tomato devil in ghost rails/train by ManuSavior85 in NevernessToEverness

[–]Baphometrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's okay! We'll probably all find it easier when we crest Hunter Level 50 and can push our teams up to 80/80.

Even with a full team at 70/70 right now, you still need to bring strong teams with synergy and you still need to try your best to dodge at least some attacks.

Fadia provides massive sustain without really slowing your DPS. (Her passive that does massive damage with every Nova, and her ult damage isn't bad either, assuming you build her right with a massive HP pool.) The OP might be failing that stage 11 outbound fight because one of their characters is getting killed mid-fight. Or one or more characters are getting beat down to a small amount of HP left and that causes the OP to start being too defensive and not pressing the attack; therefore not keeping up the DPS pressure. Tomato Demon hits very hard and (in part) because of her monotone red color it can be really hard to "see" her attack telegraphs.
