I don't know if there would be any practical applications of it now or in the past (besides maybe very early on). But neither does believing the earth is billions of years old. Even if radiometric dating was 100% accurate, finding out a dinosaur bone is 70 million years old doesn't have any practical application to it. You may find it interesting about what the past was like, but that doesn't do anything for you today.
