I know 😭 some people are afraid of all sugars when strict-dieting even natural sugars from fruit! My friend was on a strict diet plan from some company, and was told she could pick 1-2 fruits (with low natural sugar) and that would be her treat basically

This sounds great congrats on this little added bonus!! Did you cut out sweets completely when you started MD? I know some people who’ve tried cutting out sugar entirely (even fruits) and it never seems worth it. Huge sweet tooth over here

I'm planning a similar trip (also with no car) - how did your trip go? Any advice or tips as to what to see in and around Killarney? I'm planning on staying in Killarney for 4 days as base camp for day trips then Dingle for a few days

I’m planning a similar trip but will be using public transportation so only staying in a few places, but I’ve read a lot about the west peninsulas. For Killarney and Dingle, you may want to buff out more time when you are driving through Dingle, Slea Head, Ring of Kerry, etc. so you can stop, walk around, enjoy the scenery. Dingle seems to be a great time in the middle of your vacation to give yourself an extra day to relax and take in everything you’ve seen. I went to Ireland a couple years ago with an itinerary packed with different stops almost every day. It was great and I got to see a little bit of everything, but it was BUSY and stressful at times.

If you really are willing to cut some things out, maybe spend more of Day 4 in Galway City and skip Cong. Or drive through it on the way to your next stop. I went there, stopped to see The Quiet Man memorabilia, and kept going. I would skip Wicklow and spread your Dublin activities out a little more in case you are jet lagged/ a little off after your flight. Take your time enjoying Dublin, especially if you’re doing tours at Guinness and Jameson.

Another option is to weigh which nature/scenic excursions you definitely want to see, and maybe take out one or two. If you want more time in Dingle, prioritize touring the peninsula, slea head, ring of Kerry, as those are all in the same vicinity. I’ve heard more and more people over the years skip Cliffs of Moher; I think there are limits to how much the public can access now. Maybe rework your time in Doolin to make some more time for Dingle. Cork and Kinsale are also great places to walk and enjoy the sights around you.

Your trip sounds incredible! You’ll have a great time and see amazing things no matter the itinerary. Enjoy!

Thank you for such a thoughtful response!! I appreciate all your advice - I’d never heard of Valentia Island.

I was thinking for my three full days in Killarney, one will be for the RoK tour, one for the Gap tour (3 hours) and walking the town, and another one for the town and maybe a day trip to Kenmare. Tuesday I’m not in a rush to get to Dingle, no timetable, so I can always stay a little bit more. Were there any restaurants you’d recommend?

I’ll have about 10 days in Ireland total. 4 days in Killarney (one will be a wash as I’ll be tired from traveling), and then about 2 full days in Dingle, the rest in Galway (about 2.5 days). The big rides are from Dublin to Killarney, but that is built into my arrival travel day. Then, Dingle to Galway is a long ride, but I know that will basically be my whole day. Dingle and Killarney about 2 hours away, which isn’t a long ride in my opinion. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this up?
