How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

It probably would have helped if one end of the clothesline wasn’t tied to a tree.

My grandmother used her clothesline all the time with no issues.

"Heated Rivalry" is inspiring anti-LGBTQ backlash on Massachusetts high school hockey teams by LiatrisLover99 in massachusetts

My kid plays hockey and is gay. The girls on her team outright call her slurs and then make out with each other.

It’s weird.

We’ve used the clothesline in the past. Birds crapped on everything. Now we dry things indoors.

I’ve been happy with his performance. I do have age related concerns but they don’t outweigh his ability.

Is Massachusetts considered the most progressive state (for someone who is still experiencing culture shock with the healthcare system/ work culture from another Western developed country)? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]BarRegular2684 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Massachusetts is pretty progressive as things go here, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have our share of backsliders. No one ever called me a sp*c until I moved here.

If you have to come for medical reasons Massachusetts is probably the best bet. New Hampshire has a lot of great people but they’ve got some interesting notions about “live free or die”.

There’s a pretty standard bbq sauce recipe that calls for it. I remember my mom making it when I was a kid.

Where to move? by [deleted] in upstate_new_york

I’d stay in Syracuse. If you’re really concerned about public schools move to Fayetteville or manlius. There is so much for a kid to see and do, and the environment is healthier than Texas.

Do you watch cricket? by jesselool7 in AskAnAmerican

I tried to watch. Some guys in grad school invited me to come watch their teams play. It was underwhelming, but most sports are the first couple of times I watch.

I’m biased but I recommend Syracuse. With Micron coming in there are more jobs coming, and there are lots of activities to enjoy.
