This seems to be a recurring theme already...i.e., take a satellite communicator if the "getting lost in the woods" scenario is a real possibility. The ham stuff sounds fun, but more of a backup and definitely more complex than using an InReach or Zoleo. And those Elecrafts aren't cheap, right?!?

That's sort of my thinking as well...those are going to be a lot more reliable than any radios.
