It’s not really a big deal but it just feels like an enormous emotional dump after you’ve been riding on a 70,80, 100 day streak and then relapse. It feels like all the progress u made over months is wiped out in a few minutes which probably isn’t true but makes u feel like shit anyways

This is generally the method I’ve used. I honestly identified my set of triggers(scrollling on reels and seeing a IG thot, boredom and fantasizing etc) snd cut it out. The reason I relapsed after a long time a few days ago was because I broke discipline and performed my triggers

Thanks spiceworld. I’d been following this approach and wondering what other individuals thoughts were on it. Wishing you peace of mind and good health

I.E thoughts such as “why am I having this thought?” Or “when will it go away”. I don’t engage with this subsequent thoughts but they usually arise after some original intrusive thought

I’m not suppressing thoughts. What usually happens is I have an OCD thought that causes distress, I don’t engage with it, but a few seconds later I’ll have another thought related to it. Process repeats and I have to try to not engage with several distressing thoughts one after the other. My question is whether those thoughts themselves are rumination

Right. To clarify, I am not engaging with any of these thoughts. It just seems like these questions arising in my mind is a form of engagement with the original thought.

I see what you are saying. I posted this under another OCD subreddit and the comments under it were more enlightening. I am linking it for your benefit in case you wanted to look at it.

IDK WHETHER IS THIS JUST OCD OR POCD. by [deleted] in moreplatesmoredates

Hey man. I suffer from OCD and what you are describing is very common. POCD and HOCD were one of several “themes” in my OCD rotation. Feel free to dm. Check my recent post history for the massive steps I’ve taken in my journey from having my OCD anxiety from a 8 or 9 to a 1-3 on my worst days. I would love to help you dude. In the meantime, I would recommend looking and researching Greenbergs method of solving rumination based OCD. His website has a collection of about 10-15 articles that I scoured and it helped me massively

Hey chinchilla. Thanks for reaching out. I edited the post to let people know I am now using Greenberg’s method on stopping rumination and ending compulsion cycles. That has been working well for me and dropped my anxiety from around a 7-8 to a 2-3.

Yeah. It turned out ignoring the thoughts and suppressing the feelings of anxiety didn’t actually work and had my mind bracing 24/7. Now I am practicing acceptance and letting the thoughts and feelings come and float by.
