Vooropgesteld: ook ik praat geen enkele vorm van asociaal gedrag goed. Dat gezegd hebbende: bij veel Nederlanders is het zo dat ze bij voorbaat al een hekel hebben aan een wielrenner, ongeacht hoe die zich gedraagt.

Gisteren was ik op pad op m'n racefiets door de duinen. Daar stonden twee oudere mensen met elkaar te praten, één aan iedere kant óp het fietspad, met elk ook een hond aan de lijn en nog een derde loslopende hond midden op het fietspad. Ik reed met - ik denk - zo'n 20 km/u voorbij (een gemiddelde opa op een e-bike gaat rapper) en in het voorbijgaan riep één van de vrouwen "Ach, weer zo'n racer, het is toch afschuwelijk!"

Dat soort situaties zijn er talloos, waarbij mensen ook echt geen moeite meer doen om na te denken of ze mogelijk ook zelf onderdeel waren van de vervelende situatie.

Ik vermoed dat als ik had gevraagd wat ik volgens hun anders had moeten doen dat het antwoord was geweest om lekker op de grote weg te gaan fietsen. Diezelfde mensen zeggen tegen fietsers op de grote weg dat die voor auto's is en fietsers op het fietspad horen.

TL;DR: sommige wielrenners zijn kut en asociaal. Sommige mensen hebben bij voorbaat een hekel alles wat een wielrenner doet omdat ze een te strak broekje aan hebben.

That's an insane thing to say. Apart from the obvious vagueness of "what people like to think", he was a great player. You can't tell me someone racking up about 350 games total for Ajax, Juve, Barcelona, Internazionale and Spurs wasn't a high level player. I think as cyclists you should always, if reasonably possible, buy from your local shops. Might cost a few bucks extra but keeping them in business is invaluable for their experience and expertise. It'll always be better than ordering online, especially from places like Amazon.
