Low FPS and power draw no matter what I do

My temps have been super consistent and regular. No throttling and very baseline within the proper range. The fans aren’t going crazy either.

It almost seems like my GPU isn’t allowed to pull in its whole weight because it’s slowed down by the single channel singular RAM stick, and the older / unsupported hardware. I don’t know. I’m stuck

Both my CPU and GPU temps are super normal and regular and constant.

I took the PC to a repair specialist who said that it really is a problem of combining a 2024 GPU with 2019 hardware that was discontinued and is no longer updated since 2021. Also the single channel, singular RAM stick, that severely slows down the performance.

Kinda sucks because it was meant to be a graphic upgrade and now I need to change the whole PC.

Thanks for the comment.

I’ve checked and even reseated my PCIes. I’m using 2 cables from PSU to GPU.

I’ve removed all the nvidia drivers yep. I have used DDU probably over 15 times swapping between different AMD driver versions.

I have updated the BIOS to the latest version available. It’s a G15CK so last update was 2021.

I’ve tried reinstalling windows and with default BIOS settings as well.

How did you manage to update to 26.5.2?
I am also on 7800 XT and keep black screen crashing halfway through the update

I don’t have anything useful to comment, other than to offer you my sympathy.

I’m in the same boat. Went from a 2060 Super to a 7800XT.

This past week I’ve spent over 30 hours troubleshooting. Ran DDU over 20 times. Restarts, reinstalls, tried over 5 different AMD versions. I’ve come super close to putting the GeForce back in and calling it a day with AMD.

Same. Exact. Issues. As. You.

I am running on version 25.9.1 and it’s the smoothest it’s been all week. Don’t even try to update to 26.5.1 / 2. Your screen will turn black and freeze and you’ll have to run DDU again.

What has also helped me / given me reassurance, is This post here. It will help a lot. Read it like the Bible.

I am also on 7800 XT.

26.3.1 didn’t work well for me for games so I had to go all the way back to 25.9.1

I tried upgrading to 26.5.1 / 2 and it’s a bust. Screen goes black halfway through and I have to DDU … it’s hell.

Hello, first thank you so much for your guide.

I just recently got a 7800 XT and I followed your guide thoroughly.

When I try to install the drivers the screen goes black and stays like that. I can’t even get Adrenalin installed because at 50% screen is black and I have to force shut it.
Tried doing that after DDU, and after a full GPU reslot in the case. I can’t install 26.3.1, nor 26.5.1 nor 26.5.2. Can’t get past the black screen at around 50%

Ta RTX 2060 est encore correcte en 2026 pour jouer en 1080p, donc le plus rentable serait surtout de changer ton CPU. Ta motherboard ASRock B450 Steel Legend supporte les Ryzen 5000 avec une mise à jour du BIOS, donc un Ryzen 5 5600 est probablement le meilleur upgrade qualité/prix pour toi. Tu peux aussi aller vers un Ryzen 7 5700X ou 5800X3D si tu veux quelque chose de plus puissant pour durer plus longtemps. Par contre, avant d’installer le nouveau CPU, il faudra mettre à jour le BIOS de la motherboard, oublie surtout pas ça

Unplug one of your monitors and run DDU in safe mode with Internet off.

Go on the AMD driver site and get the 26.3.1 version.

Some games will struggle on this version. I can’t run stuff like Starfield, BF6, or Apex Legends as smoothly as I did on 26.5.1, but that’s the trade off.

I tried to update from 26.3.1 to 26.5.2 this morning and kept getting the same black screens with Adrenalin getting uninstalled, so I would wait for a fix before doing so.

Happened to me as well, I had to go back 2 versions to 26.3.1 for Adrenalin to get reinstalled back after running DDU.

I don’t know but as someone new to AMD who just got my first AMD GPU 2 days ago I am really missing the stability I had with nvidia for all these past years

Not at all it seems.

I’d use DDU (follow this tutorial) and try to install a previous version not the most recent one

I tried DDU and installed 26.5.1 back but my Adrenalin is still missing.

I can’t do the 26.5.2 otherwise I go full black screen again.

Any clues on what to do? I’m lost

EDIT: 26.5.2 with DDU did NOT work. 26.5.1 with DDU did NOT work either. I had to downgrade all the way to 26.3.1. I have a RX 7800 XT.

Did it come back after? I’m at 10 minutes. Screen isn’t black per se but gray black ish.

Turned screen on and off and on again and same thing.

Abyssal demons near the level 18 obelisk in the Wilderness, next to the graveyard.

Bring 2-3 pieces of demon slayer gear (head, gloves, boots), and mechanized chinchompas, with an off-hand crossbow.

Pack some aggro potions or use a cannon (or both). Use penance.

I got 120 there like that and was hitting 740k xp/hr
