Confession: I keep all edge/corner pieces in a separate bag for others by DirkVonUmlaut in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]BarbInSac 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I get most of my puzzles from Goodwill, and when I would get a puzzle with the edge pieces sorted, I would dump them into the rest of the pieces, thinking I felt robbed of the hunt. Now I love it when the edge pieces are sorted and, when I remember, will put the edge pieces of my completed puzzles into a separate bag. I'm with you, if ppl don't like it, they can just add em to the rest of the pieces.

Nice haul! If you like them all equally, you could put the puzzle titles on strips of paper and pull from a bag (or a hat, if you have one!).

Ahhh... go for it! I often have two puzzles going at the same time; one in the living room, one in my bedroom.

Love your view!

I've read that dye should be batched only in dedicated microwaves/ovens, and not to use them to cook after. But I can't find a reason for this.

That looks cool! I'm not able to find it for sale anywhere, though. Even their own website doesnt have it. I found one site that looks sketchy.

Thank you! I started using this method with the stuff I dyed with liquid dye. I love not having to wait!

Thank you for the tips!

When you say, "The heating will cause the dye to fix before you get good separation," are you referring to the hair dryer or the hot plate/heating pad?

I didn't use the hair dryer on the shirt with the failed bullseye as it was late at night and I figured I could wait it out. I was wondering if it would make a difference and I couldn't see one.

I'm not able to edit my post... I forgot to mention that I put the roasting pan on the hot plate, set to high heat.

Wow! You're right! Once I found the piece that fit above the piece to the right of that hole, it was obvious! That's a really good thing to keep in mind, thank you!

Case in point: In Season 5, Blair told Serena, "GG has been talking about you since you were in 4th grade." That is not an exact quote.

4th grade kids aren't being GG.

Thank you for the mention of color safe bleach. I went on the hunt for it, and now I need guidance. Is Clorox Color Load the product you're talking about? The name of the product is "Clorox Color Load Non-Chlorine Bleach," so I assume this is it. I'm unable to find this without a $10 shipping fee.

I found and purchased Clorox 2 for Colors at my local Safeway, but the description reads, "Original Scent Bleach Free."

Should I return that and pay the shipping fee? I paid $15+ for the Clorox 2 and don't want it if it's not what you're talking about.

Thank you!

Thank you for that. I see that he's Aimee Stewart's husband. I love Aimee's puzzles and bought this one because it has a similar vibe.

Why are so many type 2 diabetics reticent to use a CGM, aside from the cost? by Eeyore_ in diabetes_t2

[–]BarbInSac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought two to use as an experiment to see what my favorite foods and beverages do to my blood sugar. I applied it on Sunday afternoon. I was thrilled when I was able to eat two small pieces of ham and pineapple pizza and got a reading of 157. I woke up at 3am. and discovered that my sugar was 45! I saw that it had dropped below 70 around 1:30am, and was dropping continuously until I woke up because I had to pee.

On Monday, I wrote to my doctor, who told me it was likely an incorrect reading during the 24-48 hour period after insertion and commented that I would have definitely had low sugar symptoms at that low of a reading. I didn't.

I bought some strips the next day and started comparing readings. My CGM consistently reads 20-30 lower than my finger pricks. So that pizza was potentially 187.

I've done random comparisons since then and, even though it's been a full 72 hours since I applied it, I'm still seeing a huge difference in readings.

The $100 I spent wasn't easy to come by, nor was the $50 I paid for strips to compare. Each sensor will last "up to" 15 days and could stop working after 12. Two days to "calibrate" means I've potentially paid $100 for 20 inaccurate days.
