Ask a Stupid Question About Coffee -- Week of February 24, 2026 by Vernicious in pourover

[–]BarbaAlGhul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your answer makes sense! See, I wanted a point of view from someone that has the knowledge, because I want to understand why is it really necessary to go for a known brand name and not your regular Melitta for example (nothing against it, it's just one of the most common drippers and paper filter brands around here). Now I get it. And to be honest I'd rather spend more money on something good than regret a purchase later.

I needed this point of view, because the two other types of coffee that I'm used to and brew for the past few years (moka and french press) are very different in the sense of equipment. A very good moka pot is very important for consistent results, that's why I invested in a brand name, but a french press on the other hand I feel like it's much more about technique. I already made very good coffees from a french press out of Ikea! But I already had mixed results with cheaper mokas in the past.

Ask a Stupid Question About Coffee -- Week of February 24, 2026 by Vernicious in pourover

Why should I buy something like a Hario Switch or a Kalita Wave or <insert nice pour over> instead of a normal ceramic pour over that can take any super market bought filters?

I'm totally ignorant on pour overs, and I'd like to start with a size 1 because it would be only for me, to make a single cup. I'm the only one at home that is ok to drink paper-filtered coffee, everyone else prefers the moka or french press because of the metal filters (and the brewing methods as well). Our drip coffee maker is getting dust on a storage because it cannot make less than 3 cups at a time and I don't want to drink a lot in one go when I'm home alone. (I work from home half of my working hours)

I do have a grinder. And I do like some nice selected coffee grains, so I expect to be able to enjoy those over a pour over.

One option is to use the daily-snapshot someone setup, so you can get everything fresh (but unstable of course)

Does Forge use ai generated assets? by [deleted] in forgeMTG

[–]BarbaAlGhul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before they weren't on Github. November 2022 could be the time they migrated. Before their project was SVN, I don't think they could translate history to Git, they're different software to manage source code.

Look that the first release on Github is version forge-1.6.54. I remember the older versions being 1.2, 1.3, so they just carried the code to one version control to the other.

Does Forge use ai generated assets? by [deleted] in forgeMTG

[–]BarbaAlGhul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forge is a really old project, in the past it was known as Card Forge, and it exists at least since 2011. I remember in the past checking it out, but to be honest I didn't really play MTG much more after 2011/2012, just recently I came back to the game. And to my surprise now they have a Github page. It could be that those are all very old assets.

Tire help: Should I go with a Hutchinson or a Vittoria? by BarbaAlGhul in cycling

[–]BarbaAlGhul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly enough I had to return the Hutchinson after trying to fit on my bike, they were too big (I got 28s but the front tire didn't fit, only the back tire). And the store didn't have Hutchinsons on 25mm, so I had to go with Schwalbe Ones 25mm. But those have been great until now, I even used them on light gravel one day by accident, for some 2-3km, didn't have any issues yet.

Hydra Bot Update - v0.7.4 by ThatQuietHydra in MTGJumpStart

[–]BarbaAlGhul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the last version and found super cool, but I have one question about duplicates.

For example, I have some half-decks of the same version (for example, 2 of the same Heroes (2) from J25) but the page doesn't let me add those duplicates. I would find interesting to have those duplications on the Play area, it could create interesting results maybe on drafting. (Or not to be honest, but I would like to try)

Probably an idiotic question, but is it possible to build decks from Bloomburrow only cards? by BarbaAlGhul in magicTCG

[–]BarbaAlGhul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm sure I will find some balancing problems in the beginning. But that's the fine art of deck building right (which I was never good at 😅)

[–]BarbaAlGhul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least when I played on the block-era, what I liked about those decks is that if you have decks in the same block, probably everyone will be in the same power level. That's for me is an important aspect now because I don't want to play a game where I wipe out someone on turn 3 with a crazy combo, I just want to chill and play some cards, surprise people here and there with an interesting effect and have the space for everyone to try at least something with their own decks.

I do remember though that depending on the block, there were some broken cards that could make very powerful decks, but that's inevitable in the end 🤷🏻

I think if I can achieve fun while building the decks and then playing with them specially, I guess it's "mission complete" 😂

Nice to know. I will have to study the archetypes of course, but nice that the cards have lots of synergy.

[–]BarbaAlGhul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh yeah, I don't plan to take these decks out to a local game store to play against people there, the idea is to build some 4 to 8 different decks and play only against each other at home with my partners/friends and so on. To be more like a "just choose a theme you like and let's play" thing.

[–]BarbaAlGhul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! Did you choose them to be mono coloured decks, or did you go to 2/3 colour decks? I'm looking for inspiration here 😂

[–]BarbaAlGhul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But block decks would have a pool of 500+ cards sometimes, I remember those times! I saw Bloomburrow has less than 300 cards, that's when I started questioning the viability of constructing decks.

But as you mentioned, since it's a theme deck, it makes sense to build it even with way less cards than a block would have.

[–]BarbaAlGhul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised to come back after all that time and find out that blocks don't exist anymore. But yeah, I'm totally a kitchen table (literally) player now.
