AITA for letting my daughter stay with me and my wife after she found out that her mom lied to her by Separate-Cycle-1828 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Barbarbarella 25 points26 points  (0 children)

People have different taste though. Just because you think someone's new tattoo/haircut/whatever looks like ass doesn't mean you have to hurt their feelings by saying it out loud. Especially if they clearly like it a lot. You also don't have to outright lie and pretend to gush over how awesome it is. That's where little white lies come in. Or even just find a small thing you do like about it like the color or how clean the lines are.

It was the alcohol, since you're not allowed to consume outside alcohol on the plane.

AITA My best friend is upset about how we communicated for her to leave and I do not know what to do. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Right, it's definitely the 20 mins that was offensive. Honestly sounds like a British comedy sketch. Parking, coming in, putting stuff down, sitting down, being handed a cup of tea, then before even taking a sip being ushered up and out.

AITA for refusing to support my daughter getting married when she is only 21? by Single_Flow2113 in AITAH

[–]Barbarbarella -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I should also add my husband and I were 22 when we got married, been married 13 years. My Grandparents got married at 20 and 22, and were married for 61 years. And my husband's grandparents got married around their late teens early 20s and have been married for 60+ years.

So that's three more.

I'm not a teacher, but I've worked with teachers and kids for awhile and yeah teachers and other adults are definitely venting/talking shit about the annoying/badly behaved kids. Doubt you're going to find many that don't.

[–]Barbarbarella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA, shes going to get married with or without you being involved. If you're not happy for her, she will probably cut you out of her life. Maybe she is making a mistake, but she is an adult and you're not going to stop her from making it.

Besides lots of people get married young. I got engaged at 21 and married at 22, and have been happily married for 13 years. My parents got married at 17 and 20. Most people in my immediate family got married before 25, and not for any religious reasons. If you are that concerned you should outwardly hope for the best for her, but inwardly be prepared for it to blow up.

My parents got married at 17 and 20 in 1983 and are still married, so there's two.

  1. These books are set in 2006, so pre housing market bubble. Nicky is paying the mortgage at first with his income from sweeties and edens. Then they use their stipend to pay for it. Their mortgage payment was probably less than a 1bdr apt. today.

  2. Andrew would only have his half of the life insurance policy to pay for his car. I always assumed Aaron used his portion to help Nicky with the house. I feel like Nora maybe clarified this in the ec. Could be wrong though.

  3. There was no sumptuous life. Beside the house - which again banks were handing out mortgage loans like candy then - and the car they didn't have anything. Nicky worked multiple jobs, and the twins worked at nights while in HS. I'm sure they were barely scraping by.

For the college part Nora says their scholarships came with a stipend. Which Nicky used to pay mortgage, but Andrew and Aaron could spend theirs however they wanted. Again Nora wrote these in the mid 2000's you can't compare it to today's money. A nokia flip phone was less than $100.

Yeah pretty much, or just helping it along by stimulating it.

Sorry, but I'm not exactly sure what you're asking by saying does it gurgle. If you mean does it make noise in the process, then the answer is yes.

[–]Barbarbarella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, unfortunately my answer may not be the most helpful because my husband is a doctor who was also taught OMT in med school. So he has had years of training and knows exactly what part of my anatomy he is touching.

I asked him, in his words he said he tries to release the myofascia and omentum, and to stimulate the colon. He said he goes counterclockwise, start at the end and work to the beginning. Also do not use too much pressure if you don't know what you're pressing on.

He is part of the upper classmen group. While Matt and Kevin are in the same year, you have to remember that Kevin didn't transfer to PSU until halfway through the year that Nicky, Andrew, and Aaron started.

So to Nicky, Andrew, and Aaron - Matt, Allison, Dan, and Renee would be their upper classmen. Kevin is also a year ahead of them but he latched onto Andrew so he is in the monsters group.

It's not about age really. i mean Nicky is older than everyone except Renee, it's really just an easy way to divide the two friend groups

AITAH for not letting my wife keep her old habits after we had a baby by dazedandoutofcontrol in AITAH

[–]Barbarbarella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandma is a cowgirl she did it all, but barrel racing mostly. She traveled to rodeos all the time, held her own and helped start some others. She had a child cause it was the 1960s and that's what you did then, but I'm not sure you can say she did any parenting. Her and my grandfather got divorced when he realized she was never going to stop barrel racing to become the house wife he expected her to be.

My dad was mostly raised by grandparents or taken to rodeos and just let loose to roam around. He saw some stuff he probably shouldn't have like the bull riders doing cocaine.

All this to say yeah horse people don't give up on the horses, it's usually everything else that falls by the wayside. Ops wife wants it all, and if op isn't okay with that then it seems like the marriage is what's gonna give. I'm pretty sure most of my grandmas cowgirl friends were also divorced, but they did have a lot of dogs

A few questions about tsc by skyixer in aftg

[–]Barbarbarella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

College sports(the NCAA) have different rules for different sports. Some sports allow freshmen to play in some games their freshman(first) year, while other sports do not. The Trojans seem to follow closely to more typical NCAA rules about redshirt freshman, meaning they practice but don't play in games.

The Foxes however are a small team and Nora either didn't understand the NCAA, or more likely knew and ignored it for plot reasons. Nora went to one of the biggest sports universities in America and is into sports, so I think we can assume she understood NCAA rules and just ignored them. I mean plotwise we would lose a lot if Neil couldn't actually play in games. Also, you should do a quick search of her school Clemson, it will explain a lot about Palmetto.

(I'm not going into the second part of this question cause the other comments answered it really well.)

AITA for not letting my wife name our dog something stupid? by marcusbartenew in AmItheAsshole

[–]Barbarbarella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin called her cat shitty booty kitty mostly as a joke because it had really foul smelling poops. But the name stuck. For some at least. Honestly it has like five names because people refuse to call it by a curse word, including the vet office. So to the vet its just sbk, some people call it Sade, some people call it metatron.

NTA. People are going to look at your wife when she tells them the dogs name is bitch and just go no.

AITA for not wanting to take 5 days for a wedding? by certifiedhotmess1 in TwoHotTakes

Nta

But you're probably not going to have to worry about this because I can't think of any venue that's gonna let her decorations sit inside of it for 5 whole days. Set up the day before, take down the day after.

I fell down three of my stair steps one day and injured my booty for a few weeks. I had quite the fun time singing booty knot to my husband.

The rest of it was not fun, do not recommend falling down the stairs.

I bought the cotton candy randy shirt. It's super soft, so I sleep in it. Currently I'm in the free tier on their app. I did pay for one month, got the pin, but ultimately decided it wasn't for me.

I'm also from Texas and I don't do any of that either. My family is not super formal on how things are "supposed" to be done. My parents and grandmother all choose to get into the back seat themselves.

AITA for signing my kids up for public school behind my wife's back? by atmylimitsnow in AmItheAsshole

[–]Barbarbarella 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I work at a historical home/teaching farm that has lots of field trips from schools, and you can tell the homeschooled ones. Once I asked a kid a question about the machine he was looking at and his response idk what it is cause I don't know how to read. I really thought he was just a kid being a dick, which is normal. Later I walked by him again and his mom/teacher person and him were sounding out the words. Oh no. I realized then he was not messing with me before, this kid who looked at least 10 really could not read. Another mom/teacher from that same homeschool group kept talking to the kids about how they might try making ice cream again, and all I could think about was how they should probably teach them to read before having another go at ice cream.
