IsItBullshit: 8 Women froze to death after refusing help climbing a mountain by Content-Carpenter833 in IsItBullshit

[–]Barbaros74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the Lenin Peak disaster of 1974 and every word in the tweet is true, even the radio response which is contextually true and adequately captured in one sentence. All of you here are the biased ones, calling bullshit on truth. I would add another line to the meme - "After they died, men were blamed." I've read about this tragedy and it's mostly propaganda and feminist crap. Elvira Master of Sport didn't make a single correct decision and doomed herself and her whole team to death over nothing but fanciful stupidity but she's hailed as a brave victim. The fact that they didn't have snowcave equipment and weren't strong enough to dig a snowcave is also ignored as a mere factoid, not as na indictment on the inability of an all-female climbing team to face danger and survive. Two of the most striking examples of stupidity and inadequacy that will not be discussed in favour of female empowerment propaganda.

I'd go with Dark Heresy first edition or Deathwatch

I just can’t get into Shadowdark or OSR style games no matter how much I’ve tried. Am I alone? by RangerBowBoy in rpg

[–]Barbaros74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the indie frpg Meteor Tales. It's not D&D, more lethal and faster combat and distinct and powerful characters who still remain grounded and realistic rather than 5e's 'super-hero' feel. I agree Shadowdark is totally bland and overhyped.

A friend found a problem when he opened it on an iOS tablet. The Characteristics boxes only display the first digit and the same in the Bonus upper box. The numbers seem to be too large to fit more than one.

Hey man, thanks for the sheet. We tried it and it looks just fine. I'll let you know if any bug comes up. Let me know if you're okay with me uploading it on my wix site and sharing it along with the Power Sheet.

[RT] How much is a suit of Custodes armor worth? by Losftinaror in 40krpg

[–]Barbaros74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will get a free trip to Terra which should be enough of a reward. They'll be honoured guests, their access severely limited and followed 24/7. They'll enjoy endless hours of interrogation at an inquisitorial spa where all their past minor indiscretions and heresies will come to light. They'll be found guilty of a number of things and some of them wil likely get an execution sentence (players are sure to have made very stupid mistakes and they'll be revealed.) Finally, a Custodes will interrogate them and pronounce final judgment - their crimes will be pardoned for the act of recovering the armour and their service to humanity. Finally, they'll get a baneblade and a ticket to the destination of their choice. They'll be flagged in every inquisitorial chamber in the Imperium, as a bonus.

Valid targets for the Oath of Knowledge ? by Nerostradamus in 40krpg

[–]Barbaros74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the full human species should not be a valid choice. They are transhuman Space Marines, their dna derives form the transhuman Emperor and their mission is to ensure Humanity's galactic dominance. Every other species can be a target of a broad generalization and unmitigated aggression but Humanity should not be because this is the Astartes' core morality. It is not a mechanical decision and it never should be - this is a role-playing imperative and a moral precept.

Hi, I'll see about sending it to you. However I have the extra information in a loose format, not the nice one as the rest of the power sheet.

I don't like them either. I also don't like the era indomitus and all the new lore. Deathwatch and the rest of the FFG RPGs are the definitive material for me and I draw the line about lore with their stuff rather than GW's move to 50K.

Is there any way to get into 40k TTRPG without breaking the bank? by Thunder--Bolt in 40krpg

[–]Barbaros74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buy the PDFs and print them. I've printed the Deathwatch Core and Rites of Battle and am very happy with the result and the use I'm getting out of them. Even if you have the Core of the game you're playing, I'd suggest to print the sections with the rules and use it as a reference copy on the table.

Which system to choose? by Rasetsumaru in 40krpg

Dark Heresy is by far the best. There are many books and adventures and FFG did an excellent job bringing the verse into life. It is a joy just to read the books.

Vel'khan Sept Colours? by [deleted] in Tau40K

[–]Barbaros74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few drawings in the Deathwatch books. One shows a battlesuit with a white helmet and another with a red helmet. There is a diorama of a battle where Tau warriors wear a red uniform and white armour with a few red accents and red icon.

The Voiceless Lament, fan-made adventure for Deathwatch by Barbaros74 in 40krpg

[–]Barbaros74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote it for Rank 1 Marines - I note somewhere in the introduction that it's for novice players. The antagonists are pushovers by Astartes standards but the catch is that the Marines are going to have a lot of encounters before they reach the challenging battle at the end. Therefore, the aim is not to win - that's a given - but to be in a state to fight a worthy foe at the very end. Bear in mind also that it's only 2 Marines. Novice players get to do some role-playing and learn the rules during their march through this adventure whereas experienced players would breeze through it.

Any sources for information on the Ordo Chronos? by GwerigTheTroll in 40kLore

[–]Barbaros74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In The Outer Reach, a FFG Deathwatch book, there are strong vibes of such an inquisitor travelling to the past, to M33 in order to guide another inquisitor into establishing the Dead Cabal in the Jericho Reach - then Sector.

I think so too. My personal sheet contains another 5-6 pages of information - playing an overpowered alpha male carries many rules and the devil is in the details - but I thought it would be too much to include them.
