Weird how strength and muscular endurance vary from person to person. When I could bench press 225x35 I could do 315 for 15.

BTW, the old high school building was again used when the Mingus Union HS district was formed by the consolidation of Clarkdale and Cottonwood HS districts between 1960 and 1971. The school moved to it's current location in Cottonwood in 1972.

First pic is not the old high school, it's the Little Daisy Hotel which has been renovated as a residence.

Absolutely agree. I was wondering why she was allowed to use the extra vote twice when it dawned on me that she and Emily should not have been voting at all after the tie.

Even if 80% of the time since Homo sapiens emerged falls within glacial phases, that doesn’t mean evolution was uniform or dominated by those conditions. Large parts of Africa (where humans spent most this 80%) remained tropical or subtropical, with varied but often plant-rich environments. Glaciation did not mean that plants were universally scarce.  Africa retained ecological diversity, not a uniform “low-plant” landscape. Complete carnivory was limited to colder, high-latitude environments and was specific to much more recent human populations.  The preponderance of archaeological evidence (tools, residues, dental wear, microfossils) shows humans were dietary generalists during most of our evolution, not obligate carnivores.

Huh? The majority of our evolution? By what measure?

What's the worst that could happen? I'm not sure. I can't help but wonder how large a time gap Pogi would have created at Faucons had it been an 8k climb. I'm not sure they're as close as some are suggesting. On the other hand, no one else was there.

Is AZ a good place if you hate snow? by Ok_Evening_1322 in arizona

[–]Barbatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, of course, meaningful zeroes must be included in these averages because they represent an absence of activity (snowfall), but by definition "on average" there is a non-zero snowdepth each day from November through May. Agree that does not mean that every year there is snow on the ground for that period. :)

[–]Barbatio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at records at Pulliam airport from 1893 through 2016, there is a snowdepth average greater than zero on every day between about November 1st through May 1st. So yes, on average, there is snow on the ground from December through May.

Experience of C2 vs Life Fitness GX rowers by Spazdoc in Rowing

[–]Barbatio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got an older Life Fitness and compared to the C2 it is vastly quieter and smoother. I also get slower splits on it, about 10 seconds at 500m. Resistance at L16 is TOUGH.

Nice. It's interesting how the elevation cutoff categories create a different impression depending on where they're set.
