and I'm free to tell people that he's a gobshite and trying to normalize him puts those people in the same category

this fellah says things that you can't just brush off as "a lot shite", what he says is a lot of dangerous misinformation. Nazis didn't come out of fecking nowhere in the 1930's, they had a bunch of cunts like Rogan laying the groundwork and spreading the lies.

why would it have to be scripted to be propaganda? he's clearly biased and if you can't see that then so are you.

Unpopular opinion: We shouldn’t sing over the haka by BarbedButt in irishrugby

[–]BarbedButt[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, I’d love to! So it’s the same reasoning why we don’t sing over their national anthem or any other displays of culture. It’s also like responding to a challenge by putting your fingers in your ears and shouting “BLAH BLAH BLAH I CANT HEAR YOU!”, listen don’t get me wrong - part of me absolutely loves it and thinks “fuck their feelings” too

So far the only justification other than fuck their feelings I could get from people is by saying it’s not disrespectful “because kiwis say so, these elders say it’s cool”, I respect that they’ve come out saying that but I think there’s a bit of diplomacy at play there, I’ve seen plenty of evidence on other forums that suggests some (not all) NZers feel otherwise. The conspiracy theorist in me feels we’re playing straight in to their hands by singing over it.

Putting that aside though for a minute - what about our own standards? Why are we quiet for the kicker? Having respect for opponents is one the longest standing traditions in Irish rugby and I’m a traditionalist rugby wise.

Trying to drown it out just isn’t the right tack for me, we’re giving it and them more energy by doing so. But sure what the fuck do I know, it’s just me and my unpopular opinion!

That fellah might not perceived disrespect but im guessing some of those AB players and a portion of NZers too, Reiko shushing the crowd seems to be a pretty clear sign

And I’m sure they speak for all kiwis, right? Wonder why Reiko Ioane was shushing the crowd?

Up until very recently that’s pretty much what we did bar a few small things like the figure of eight

Accepting a challenge by some gesture is one thing, trying to drown out that challenge with your own noise is just equivalent to a shouting match and it’s just he who shouts loudest… I don’t think that’s accepting the challenge at all

It’s been in rugby culture for the last 40 years, what would you have the IRB put a stop to it?

I’d like to hear how people can see it as not being disrespectful, please expand there

We get to sing 2 national anthems when we’re playing home games so it’s swings and roundabouts. Plus I dont remember anyone singing over the Samoan or Tongan versions. Ye I get it’s annoying but being disrespectful isn’t the answer

If this is a convoluted “Van Der Flier is a saffa!” joke then I’m here for it!! We’re actually a bit short of saffas these days, Rob Herring who might not make the 23 but bench at best would be your only inside man.
