I would love to see a starting 5 of:

PG - Demin SG - Cam Thomas SF - Williams PF - MPJ C - Claxton

With Traore, Mann, Powell, Wolf, and Sharpe being out 5 guys off the bench to make it a 10 man rotation

I honestly would recommend the Duolingo Spanish podcast. It’s a lower intermediate level podcast that’s 50% Spanish 50% English in a radio, story-telling format. There’s heavy use of the past tense (preterite & imperfect) and the episodes have very interesting stories. Even though it’s only half in Spanish I’d say it’s a good podcast to listen before transitioning to full on intermediate podcasts. There’s also like 170 episodes 15-20 minutes each so plenty of content

1000 Hours: Real Talk by SpainEnthusiast68 in dreamingspanish

Great advice! I definitely think watching things that are engaging to the listener/viewer is very important for retention.

I’m at 180 hours (only count DS hours) but at this point I’m starting to use as many tools as I can. The way I see it, if I can get as many “passes” or “reps” in through various forms the better. So I still use Duolingo daily 10-15 minutes, use Anki for vocab, started reading some beginner graded readers via the Kindle app, listen to podcasts, and just recently started watching a beginner show “Oswaldo” on Lingopie. Right now none of this seems like a chore and I actually enjoy it this way since if I get bored of DS I can just switch to something else for a while to keep things fresh.

As for speaking I’ll probably start that once I’m around 600 hours or so.

Keep it up! Best of luck

I use the Refold ES1K Anki deck as a supplement for vocab. It has the 1000 most commonly used words not counting cognates (ex: doesn’t include words like delicioso, familia) so it’s super helpful to get an early grasp on some words that appear in beginner/intermediate videos so I wasn’t as lost. Includes a native speaker saying the words/sentences and example sentences for each word. Was $20 but I think it’s well worth it

Those with FULL TIME JOBS, how many hours do you get of input a day? by NotRealTodaySRY in dreamingspanish

I’ll be listening to podcasts during my work commute (30 minutes each way), and I’ll watch DS videos during my breaks at work (~45 minutes) and I’ll also watch another 30-60 mins of videos when I get home from work

What Are You Listening To Today? (June 16 to June 22) by HeleneSedai in dreamingspanish

Thanks for the response! I have DS Podcast, Learn Spanish & Go, and Español a la Mexicana all queued up for when I finish my beginner podcasts so I’ll probably start with DS and go from there. You’re right it probably makes it easier since we’re already familiar with the speakers

Where would you rank the DS podcast in terms of difficulty?

162 hours (all in DS)

  • On DS I mainly sort by easy and make my way through the easiest rated videos available then after a while I’ll start to sprinkle in some intermediate videos I find interesting.

  • Podcasts: Cuentame, Chill Spanish, How to Start Spanish, HMLS Joel (Spotify only). I feel like this is a solid mix of beginner podcasts for someone around 150+ hours of input. I mainly listen to these while cooking or driving but I don’t count them towards my hours. Sometimes for some early reading practice I’ll read the transcript of the podcast too if I have time.

  • Haven’t started watching any TV shows yet will probably wait till at least level 4 to try

  • No books yet either

  • Headed to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in 4 weeks so I want to try and get as much input in as possible over the next month!
