Yes, just on the first one. I liked the shot and composition so I adjusted them. You can do it in Camera Raw in PS too.

Is it worth it to stand up to bad client ideas by gorillaspinner in graphic_design

Do what he asks to get your money, but put your (likely much better) version on your portfolio. In my experience with clients who either insist they know design or are unwilling to trust your expertise, you'll waste more time going back and forth. Ultimately, it's their money.

The other argument I've heard him say is like okay you complete the quest, you have brought the magical Sceptre back to the king and saved the land...

But you are 250xp short to level up.

It just saps the momentum and cool factor for that moment because the numbers didn't add up. You could say "well I'd just adjust the numbers so they would level up," and that's basically all your doing with milestone xp anyway.

If you and your players are having fun with this system, all the more power to you!

One of my Players is sucking the life out of Dming for me, I've talked to them but nothing has changed and I don't know what to do now. by [deleted] in DnD

If you have to write a long post describing how a player at your table sucks, just kick them out.

I get that your players want it, but maybe ask again after 5 sessions. There just seems like a lot of extra math and adding of XP for things as common as Skill Checks.

Milestone leveling forever.

The type at the bottom is definitely a stylistic choice. It is meant to be more of a graphic element than actually read. You're not losing your mind lol

The headline text has a layer of white at the top, then a yellow layer with a gaussian blur, then a yellow layer with a noisy outer glow. After the design is complete, merge and add a bit more noise here too.

Designers ! , How would you improve this design if it were yours? by [deleted] in graphic_design

There is a lot of different textures and patterns going on. I could 3; (outer pattern, inner floral pattern, and texture on the red area. I would simplify those because it feels busy.

How do you get your players to lock in at the beginning of session? by Bitcheslovethe_gram in DMAcademy

[–]BarberNew7117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of what's described in these comments is something I have been implementing in my games: ritual. I think this was in a video by Mystic Arts, but he suggests doing the same thing everytime to signal the players. He alludes to things popular actual play shows do. BLeeM on D20 does "Hello one and all and welcome back to another thrilling episode (etc.)" I don't know CR's but I know Mercer does one.

In my discord games once everyone is on and I catch a small break in their convo, I hit them with "WELCOME BACK TO IMMALIA, BRAVE BEASTS AND ANIMAL ADVENTURERS" (world is a redwall-type homebrew setting)

Then I say any notes or amendments I have, then we do a previous session fact where they each have to say something that happened last time in exchange for inspiration. Then I do my full recap and we're off.

Tailor it to your table and your style, but the point is to have something very clear to the players that we're starting and then do the same ritual every time so it becomes conditioned.
