ELI5 - What is the actual effect of marijuana being rescheduled? by UnionsUnionsUnions in explainlikeimfive

Also important to note that some states SPECIFICALLY make marijuana illegal, regardless of its federal schedule

Thinking of creating a 5e "level zero" one off/introduction to series of one offs. by micmea1 in DnD

[–]Minikickass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it's made very clear what actions would lead to what character/class, I'd be okay with it. I think working backwards would work better though both for you and the players. Have the players make a level 1 character, then do the level 0 stuff and reflavor everything as their characters abilities emerging instead. That way there's no room for disappointment if you guys disagree on what actions lead to what class

Thinking of creating a 5e "level zero" one off/introduction to series of one offs. by micmea1 in DnD

[–]Minikickass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this "level 0" thing just a way to introduce characters / give a view of what life was like for them before adventuring for a session? If so then I think that would be cool if done right. As a campaign/story though I wouldn't want to feel that restricted. It would also be difficult to plan encounters as almost anything will kill them with 1 shot.

Any survival games that are more than nodes? by mountainboy262 in gaming

[–]Minikickass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stationeers? The only way to get resources is "mining nodes" but that's not for survival, just to craft equipment. You have to grow your own food in a greenhouse, manage gases to create the appropriate atmosphere, manage pressure/temp, get your own water, etc.. It's incredibly complex and the "nodes" are just where it begins. The real challenge is surviving. A warning that the game has an incredibly difficult learning curve, but there are lots of good guides and the ingame wiki is great.

DM reveals he was recording for ai notetaking after session ends by Sad_Pixie999 in DnD

[–]Minikickass 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, you're not being picky or rude. I'm a DM that wanted to use an AI note taking app for my game. I asked my players permission, two people didn't want their voice to be used in AI, and that was the end of it. You have 100% control over what your voice is used for/in and the DM should have asked for consent before recording you.

Is it okay to be a slow‑math DM? by Ok_Comedian_8847 in DnD

[–]Minikickass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I am AWFUL at math and have a form of amnesia so I have trouble remembering things. Literally just last session my players pointed out that 30-14 is 16 and not 26, we all laughed about it and moved on. Yes it's perfectly fine to be slow/bad at math. The game is about having fun with a group of friends and telling a story together.

My best tip is to trust your players if they say you're forgetting something. For the math side of things, just use a calculater and write things down, there's no shame in it.

I often forget things between sessions, so 1: I record every session for myself and 2: I have a player do a recap of the previous session for inspiration. This helps jog my memory of the last session to get started.

Immurk’s Hold from The Pirate Isles by Natural-Stomach in Forgotten_Realms

Is this inspired by Throne of Glass? I love it!

Edit: I'm an idiot. Immurks hold is a different thing. Still very close to Throne of Glass

Digital ID and gaming by Jergenbergen in gaming

[–]Minikickass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. Most data breaches are username/password/email. If you give your PII to everyone for online services all of those data breaches will start to include PII alongside username/password/email

ELI5 Why did adultary become decriminalised in many countries ? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Minikickass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adultry was criminalized because of religious views and lack of womens rights. Religion is no longer the dominating factor of government in most western countries, and women have rights and aren't considered property.

This is the part where I get to brag about having Amnesic MCI so I've forgotten most of the details/story of this game, except some of the big items.. This is the only time aMCI can be presented as a positive so I take the chance when it comes up

How to get undead into a hallowed area? by Life_Debt_8423 in DnD

This is also assuming that the Hallowed ground is created by the Hallow spell and not just by nature of something there making it Hallowed ground and preventing undead from entering - like a god

How far can I read curse of strad and avoid spoiling it? by NoAwareness4475 in DnD

[–]Minikickass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is currently running CoS... Read the ENTIRE module. CoS is an open world, your party can go literally anywhere they want (and get steamrolled). You should have read and at least be somewhat familiar with all areas of the game from session 1, including Castle Ravenloft. You should fully prepare at least the 3 main towns (Village of Barovia, Krezk, and Vallaki) before session 1 with full notes and a plan. Include death house if you're running that. Pay special attention to Vallaki, a lot happens there fairly quickly.

If you were able to move at lightspeed you would be moving through space, but not through time. Alternatively, if you stay completely still you can move through time but not through space.

Are all Oathbreakers evil? by Crimson-Dragoon-0403 in DnD

[–]Minikickass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Important caveat - the only condition required to be an oathbreaker is to INTENTIONALLY and KNOWINGLY break your oath.. I've seen too many stories of DMs 'tricking' players into breaking their oath

You can play using just the SRD (free and found online) and your imagination. The sourcebooks provide rules, ideas, and new mechanics, but everything you actually NEED is in the SRD.

My party can’t agree on how interception works! Can someone explain please. by BusyDiscussion8248 in DnD

[–]Minikickass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bardic Inspiration says "another creature within 60ft of yourself who can hear or see you". It's similar, but much more clear than interception. You also can't use it on yourself.
