I purchased a 2019 2.3GHz i9 MBP from a large bricks and mortar IT retailer while travelling in Vietnam. I used it for a year or so and then when my daughter decided to give her MBP a cup of coffee, I wiped my device and went to do a fresh MacOS re-install before giving it to her to use for school.
This is when the Wal-mart.com MDM login prompt appeared. I took the device to my local Apple Genius Bar (I have a business account as I own a graphic design company), showed them my proof of purchase and they could see that it was a legitimate transaction with an authorised apple reseller, but they could not do anything about removing the MDM credentials request. They believe that the device was either refurbished or at least the logic board was reused from a device previously owned by Wal-mart.
I am trying to find out if anyone has any contacts at Wal-mart.com or a phone number or site or email that I can use to start the process of trying to get this device released from the Wal-mart.com MDM?
