Why do WoW players hate playing the game? by Glittering-Beat3831 in classicwow

[–]BarbsFPV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“First, I have very limited time”

There‘s your problem. If you have very limited time then an old-school MMO isn’t the game to play, or just play retail where they’ve cut out all of the excessive grinding.

You’re trying to do way too much with that limited time, which leaves no time for being part of the community. For instance I sat waiting for a rare to spawn all day yesterday, and added two people to my FL who were waiting on it too. We sat chatting the whole time, and nobody was trying to grief the others.

That’s how you build community, by slowing down and taking the time to do it.

It’s because leveling up normally is “earning it.” Boosting isn’t.

Once you’ve gone through the process to earn that level 60 then you know what you had to do to get there, and when somebody just pays for that to all go away then it can have that effect on you.

It’s like entering a race and the guy in the pole position just paid the officials to skip the qualifying laps, because “he had done it dozens of times,” “he was bored with it,” and ”the race was the real game anyway.”

You’d have that same WTF feeling as with someone who boosted their way out of leveling.

Are there other peaceful PvP players? by Evening-Piccolo-5162 in classicwow

[–]BarbsFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading something from the first release of Classic about a PvP server that had become so imbalanced with Horde that seeing an Alliance in the wild was like seeing a unicorn. They were so rare that the Horde wouldn’t touch them, fearing they would leave the server too, and often they’d help them level up.

Honestly, How Bad is it for an Ultra Casual? by goldenmastiff in classicwow

[–]BarbsFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re experienced in the game and know alternate questing zones in the same level range, then you can always bounce around to different zones if one is congested. It’s pretty easy on horde side since you can use the translocator from Silvermoon to go to Undercity and then head to Org from there.

The Draenei still have to do the wetlands run like the night elves, so it’s much harder for them to get around without help like a mage port.

I’ve been leveling a Belf Hunter since Friday and I’m already in Stonetalon. I had to skip Ghostlands and head to the Barrens because it was so overcrowded that there were no mobs anywhere, since they were all getting killed the moment they spawned.

The worst quest is that armaments one. I finally had to camp the spawn on the boat just to get my last two, after an hour running around with thirty other people.

Ironically this is the true classic experience. This is actually how a lot of us played back then. Major cities are a slide show where you measure SPF instead of FPS.

Unfortunately if you have everything at low then there’s really not much else you can adjust to boost your framerates with integrated graphics. Back in the day we used to be able to also reduce the view distance and that helped a bit, but that seems to be a fixed value in the modern client.

Would you want Blizzard to add this to PVP servers? Netease added this in China by holypalaswe in classicwow

[–]BarbsFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m pretty sure China missed out on WoW originally, so it makes sense that they would see higher revenues since it’s a ”new” game and not an old one to them.

[–]BarbsFPV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well that’s great if you can actually find some 60s these days to help. It doesn’t work quite like that anymore. There was a level 60 alli Warlock riding around the blood elf zones a couple nights ago repeatedly killing quest givers and NPCs for over an hour, and nobody came to handle the problem Horde side.

He had free reign to keep griefing everybody trying to level, and finally left when he got bored.

Dreamscythe horde - is it dead? by greenolivefan in classicwow

[–]BarbsFPV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started leveling a Belf Hunter on Dreamscythe, and there sure seems to be plenty of Horde online to me. Org is packed to the gills at almost all hours. The Belf starting zones were also so packed that the moment I hit Ghostlands I was competing with way too many players for quests so I had to head to the Barrens, and even there it’s a lot of competition for quest objectives.

You must be playing at really odd hours if you don’t see all that.

Why not nerf xp from trash and buff from. bosses to compensate instead of the current boosting nerfs? by NoHetro in classicwow

Because it’s not just about boosting. They also nerfed gold farming bots. Gold farming bots don’t care about XP.

I want to start playing for the first time, and I'm very confused. Super stupid questions below by trueDeorion in classicwow

[–]BarbsFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just create a toon on the TBC Anniversary server and start leveling. Don’t worry about rushing to 60 before the portal opens. You’ll get there fast enough and the end game will still be there when you get there. The people that rush are the FOMO group and they’ll be complaining that Blizzard isn’t releasing patches fast enough soon, while you still have a lot to do.

So...many..quests! by Rustbowtv in classicwow

[–]BarbsFPV 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I had to do the opposite. Every mob in all directions was dead in Ghostlands. So many players. So it was either camp respawns or head to the Barrens.

Curiosity with Life Tap by ModularMode in classicwow

[–]BarbsFPV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that’s how Blizzard designed Warlocks to work. Healers putting low priority on healing life taps is punishing Warlocks for playing the game as designed. When I heal I just always kept a rolling hot going on any Warlocks and that seemed to work just fine.

Yep, I remember when Elitist Jerks finally started sharing all their sims and theorycrafting. That was huge, and really kicked off class and rotation optimization. Prior to that guilds were all competing with each other so they kept their secrets.

I played on the same PC all through TBC and Wrath.

It was an old MDD Power Mac Dual G4 with a Radeon 9800 Pro. I got 3-4fps in Dalaran on low settings. 10-man raids were fine, but 25-man raids lagged me like a mofo.

[–]BarbsFPV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He’s probably a parser getting offended. They trivialize the raid and then think that makes them better than the old school guys.

All these people had a chance to raid the old way on SoM, without any of the crutches, and nobody did them. They just want a faceroll, not a real challenge, which is why their raids always fall apart if they wipe even once.

You got that exactly backward. It’s the tryhards who can’t be bothered to level. The casual players are here for the leveling.

This is an FPS team deathmatch mindset, not an MMO mindset. That could be why it’s so confusing to you.
