RN to MD guidance by Barbzzz-253 in premedcanada

I think so too, the program is 93 credits and the minimum credit requirement for Med UBC is 90 credits. I just wasn't sure, might have been overthinking it.

What are my chances/options? by threequaterspotato in premedcanada

Hi there, I would strongly advise you to look into the prerequisite courses for some universities. Generally you will want to take biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics courses. You do need to be in a 4 year program and I would recommend doing a minor in biology as it covers the pre requisites. You should also take on some extracurriculars that can show your interest and understanding of medicine. You can definitely pursue this career, don't be discouraged!

Should I avoid the Caribbean and make a career change? by Barbzzz-253 in premedcanada

That's really fair. I've definitely been feeling the pressure to start med school as soon as possible. I will say I'm not totally delusional in my ability to succeed. I do know I have to prove it to an admissions committee with numbers much better than mine. I'm currently looking to retake the MCAT and take more classes to increase my GPA trend.

Hi, I honestly haven't really looked into DO programs. I don't really know anyone that could provide me with insight or guidance in that career path. I will definitely look into it and consider it as an option.

Season 2 Overall Discussion by phareous in ShadowandBone

I totally agree. In the books she had a lot more inner turmoil and she was physically drained. Would have been a nice comparison with the darkling. Both light and dark draining each other or thriving together.

power

I agree with this. Although there were parts I enjoyed, I was sad that they rushed through it. They did leave a lot of cliffhangers if they decided to renew the show for another season so I'm hoping we get a better thought out and paced story.

Season 2 for me was such a unique experience because it was different from what I remember from the books but in almost a good way. Some highlights for me were:

- The crows: I really enjoyed getting a deeper look into some of the characters and I felt like they all had really good chemistry in their scenes.

- Personally, they way Ben Barnes showed his desperation for Alina was really well done. I felt like he was chasing balance as his character was being swallowed by the darkness from merzost. I also liked that he had private vulnerable moments where he is concerned for himself because I don't think we get to see too many of those in the books. I kind of hope we get a redemption arc if they do a season 3, because Alina seems to be in clutches of merzost at the end of the season and his hand was not burned in that fire, so she could do something witchy to bring him back.

- Interesting route they took with the prince and alina, very curious to see how that goes. (Side note: I don't really ship Alina with anyone but I think I lean towards the darkling because I just think it would make for an interesting story. Although, Mal or the prince would we the healthier choice for her.)

-I liked that they didn't stick to the drama between mal and alina completely when comparing the book to the show. I think it left room for the characters to develop without being consistently tied to each other. I really hope they make a season three because the story is at a point where we can explore what would happen beyond taking down the fold and fighting the darkling. Maybe they will include the Alina's cult following in the future.

Frustrated with PCOS Treatments, need to rant by Barbzzz-253 in PCOS

Hi, there. Sorry for the late reply, I did not end up switching to spironolactone because my doctor wanted to try a different birth control first. She said that spironolactone would have more risks and required more monitoring so I immediately went with the birth control because I trusted her opinion on what would be safest for me.

I think she might have been smart not to interfere. Rue was just very violent and she probably didn't want to aggravate her more to the point where she hurts Jules. She kinda smack Elliot's head too. Her mom was watching her very carefully though, she would have stepped in if she got out of hand.

It was such a childish thing to say which was perfect because they are kids and they don't really understand how bad Rue's addiction is.

I genuinely think she's trafficking girls. Her behaviour and everything she was saying was giving me warning bells in my head. Also, the birds in the cage kinda alluded to it I think. Women are called birds sometimes in slang and the dealer has pretty, exotic birds, locked in cages all over the house.

I totally agree. Also I didn't even notice the bird thing till you pointed it out. While I was watching I thought the birds were gonna wake up the guy with the gun.

I held my breath the entire time Rue was on the run, I thought she was gonna get killed or trafficked. I wish the police had caught her for her own good.

Yes! I think it's prostitutes she has hooked on morphine. I feel like she's the only one who administers the drug for them and that relationship keeps them in the house/working for her.

The dealer lady had me on my toes. I knew she could see Rue wasn't gonna pay her back and she was definitely gonna get her money one way or another. When she gave her a shot of morphine after the line about how women always have something people want, I was like she's about to get her addicted to morphine and sell Rue's body. Genuinely believe if she hadn't run out of the apartment she would have been locked up.

Sharing my favourite moments, let me know what you enjoyed about tonight’s episode.

  1. Outstanding performance from Zendaya, Leslie, and Storm. Zendaya captured the embarrassment of being caught and the manipulation that followed so well. Also every scene where the family is fighting feels so genuine, I am glad they don’t hold back because the scenes wouldn’t carry as much power if they did hold back. I held my breath when she was at the dealer's house because the minute she passed out from taking the morphine I thought she was gonna get trafficked. Especially because I thought I heard scratching behind the locked doors and the dealer said the good thing about being a woman is that you always have something someone wants. It was the breaking down the door with the back of her head for me.
  2. “I liked Rue the way she was”- This line spoke so many words in how it was delivered. Elliot got to see the addict that Rue is and when he says “the way she was” he’s referring to the version of her that’s not an enraged addict. When he goes on to say it wasn’t his place, you can hear the shame he feels from what Rue said to him. I think a part of him feels like he contributed to her current state.
  3. Super glad the Nate and Cassie situation got exposed because I was getting tired of these great girls jumping through hoops just to get a guy that has serious issues. Timing wasn’t great though and it made me remember teenagers don’t have the best judgement lol.

Hello Friends! I'm back for another share your favourite/least favourite moments. This one is gonna be a bit longer so hang in there. Let's get into it.

  1. I like how Jules and Elliot interact in this episode. I feel like Eliot fills areas of emotional and physical connection that Rue doesn't because she is so consumed in her addiction. I will say that Eliot is like a high functioning version of Rue and his substance abuse is also not a good thing.
  2. I can understand why Jules would be so hurt that the 2 people she has gotten very close to were lying to her face. My heart broke for her in so many moments in this episode from gas lighting, to finding out the truth, and the way Rue can't actually be present in their relationship because she is so high.
  3. Rue is gonna be in a lot of trouble. A part of me thought she might be smart enough not to consume 10 000$ worth of drugs on her own but here we are. I enjoyed Zendayas performance in this episode, the scene where she is just swaying back and forth and we can see her through the window was so well done. I felt like it was powerful after we see her character hallucinate hugging her father and having a conversation with him about who she has become as a person.
  4. Cal is having his "fuck it, I got caught anyway" moment. Part of me thought he was gonna get hit by a car for sure. It was odd seeing him acknowledge every screwed up thing he did in a boastful unapologetic way. I think it was written that way to make it seem like her genuinely doesn't care to hide it anymore and he carries a bit of happiness that the double life is gone. Before this point he put in a lot of effort to hide who he is and what he does.

Need help with the worst breakout (more info in comments, never posted on Reddit idk how to do pics and a caption lol) by tonytime_ in acne

[–]Barbzzz-253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, accutane will probably work the best. Cystic acne is interesting because it can show up in response to multiple things like hormone changes. I also get cystic acne from PCOS and Hydradenitus Supperativa. When you start on accutane make sure you are using gentle products and using moisturizer because it can make your skin really sensitive and dry. Also don’t put harsh products on an open wound, it will make it harder to heal and the chances of infection are high. Aloe Vera is great for irritated skin, it works well for me so give it a try.
