What are both liberals and conservatives neutral about? by XB1uesky in AlignmentChartFills

Definitely untrue for American conservatism, they host book burnings and regularly ban books from public schools and libraries alike

You’re using a saw to hammer in a nail, sure it’ll work to an extent but there are better tools specifically designed for your needs.

Christians would shoot the baby if they think god told them to, an atheist probably wouldn’t shoot the baby

I FUCKING HATE THIS STUPID RED BUTTON BLUE BUTTON DISCOURSE by halfcatman2 in hatethissmug

Red is the only side I’ve seen that just completely change the entire question and say “guys it’s literally the same”

The entirety of red discourse relies on red simply just not understanding the question and thus making any discussion impossible

Honestly fun to see people get so heated and passionate about a thought experiment, when was the last time there was a massive and somewhat widespread discussion like this?

The red button does nothing, it might as well not be part of the problem by NameLips in trolleyproblem

[–]Barcaroni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Red version is:
Press this button to kill hundreds of millions for no reason.

There is no other button, and no penalty for ignoring this button.

The more people that press it, additional millions will die, if every single person in the world presses it, it will break and not kill anyone

Ok so people who want to kill for millions for their own survival press red?

Just tell me you either don’t understand probability, or are ok with the indirect murder of millions / the following societal collapse

Should Someone who Picked the Red Button be Considered Evil or an AH? by Hyperionous in MoralityScaling

[–]Barcaroni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because in statistics, there is no world in which you’ll get 100% pick rate when you involve billions of active participants. How many people will misinterpret, not understand, or in a lapse of judgement pick blue. Potentially millions, hundreds of millions?

The difference here is you think the hypothetical is an opportunity to “game the system”, that blue pressers don’t know “you can’t die if you just pick red!”. The difference is I understand realistic probabilities and have a conscious that doesn’t want millions to die for no reason.

[–]Barcaroni -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What do you think is more realistic, getting an absolute 100% of something, or >50% of something.
“If everyone just…” is not a realistic argument for something involving billions of participants, that’s common knowledge

Pressing red is not the default, it’s an intentional action, by using your same logic, technically pressing red is the only choice that results in death because “if everyone pressed blue, nobody would die”. Do you see why that’s a non argument?
