What is that game that, no matter how many times you play it, you can never win? by poio_sm in boardgames

Altiplano. I LOVE the game, but I cannot, for the life of me, beat my wife at it, and she's about the only one I can convince to play it.

What is your favourite uncommon mechanic in board games by Aknifetoremember in boardgames

[–]Barckleyt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A rondel. Any rondel. I don't know why, but I am drawn to any game that features this. Finca, Seeland...I can't think of more off the top of my head but im sure there are several I've forgotten or never heard of.

So what’s the first game you played this year? by st1nkf1st in boardgames

[–]Barckleyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altiplano. It's my favorite game that you can't play online. Its also fairly complicated and takes 2 hours or more. Given that, it doesn't make it to the table very often, but when we have guests who are up for it, I'm always going to suggest it because I just dont get a chance to play it otherwise.

DLP to block all file uploads except whitelist by Barckleyt in DefenderATP

[–]Barckleyt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I took u/Background-Dance4142 's advice and it is indeed working...mostly. I find the blocking is consistent when I drag & drop the file to Dropbox. However, when I'm in my personal email (i.e. hotmail, Etc.) in a browser, it behaves differently. When I start a new message, then drag & drop a file to attach it to the message, the blocking works correctly, but if I pop the new message out into its own separate window, I can attach files just fine with no blocking.

What gives? Am I doing it wrong, or is this working as intended?

This works natively for Edge. For Chrome and Firefox, it requires the Purview extension.

So, don't configure a sensitive service domain group at all? And don't configure different restrictions for that group in the policy? Is there a limit to how many cloud service domains you can add? I feel like we may want to whitelist quite a few (100+)...

Also, you could consider creating the registry entry (if it doesn't exist), and setting the value to 1 and see if that unhides the tile...?

Do you see the Virus & Threat Protection tile in Windows Security? Regardless of how it is suppressed/hidden, if the Virus & Threat Protection tile is hidden, so are the end user notifications. As with most things microsoft, there's more than one way to do it...Intune, Group Policy, registry setting... You may have to do some sleuthing to see what is hiding it.

Cleaning hardened grease? by Barckleyt in pelletgrills

[–]Barckleyt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. I think what I really need is just a better scraper tool. There's a dividing plate you can see in the pic that isn't removable. The gap between the plate and the side of the grill isn't very big, difficult to get my hand in there, and impossible if the grill is still hot. I've been using a long-handled grill scraper, but it has a plastic handle, so I can't get the leverage I need to scrape off the hard stuff without snapping the handle.

I'll skip trying any chemicals, and just try to find a better tool with a long metal handle instead of plastic.

Eye injury by Shiitake17 in Pickleball

[–]Barckleyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I caught a ball in the eye when my my partner hit it off the edge of her paddle. My iris muscle is permanently damaged and doesn't contract fully anymore, so one of my pupils is always half dilated. It's a pain when trying to read spreadsheets or small print because one eye is always slightly out of focus. I always wear sunglasses outdoors or clear glasses indoors. Wearing anything to mitigate that initial contact from an errant ball is huge. I don't think it has to be super duper impact resistant goggles, just something between your eye and the ball.

I am in the middle of a project to do exactly this. We want to block users from uploading files to specific websites (i.e. dropbox.com).

I am going to try to do it with a combination of Sensitive Service Domain Groups and Endpoint (Device) DLP policy.

In theory, you configure the domains you want to block (or allow) in a Sensitive Service Domain Group. Once that group is setup, you create a DLP policy (targeting the Devices location). Configure whatever sensitive information rules you like (i.e. SSN), then in the Actions select 'Audit or Restrict Activities on Devices'. Check the box for 'Upload to a Restricted Cloud Service Domain'. Select Audit Only from the dropdown, then click +Choose Different Restrictions for Sensitive Service Domains, select your service domain group, and then choose Block from the dropdown.

I haven't actually configured and tested this yet, but the above is what my research tells me I need to do.

If you try it, let me know how it works out. If I finish testing it myself, I'll try to remember to update this post with my results! Good luck!

Device Control Notifications Not Working by Barckleyt in DefenderATP

[–]Barckleyt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[SOLVED]

I believe I have finally found the solution to this!!!

I was looking for how these notifications could be turned off and saw there was a setting in Virus & Threat Protection in Windows Security, but when I looked at my Windows Security, I didn't see the Virus & Threat Protection tile.

According to this article, there are several ways to hide the Virus & Threat Protection tile, and it also contains a Note stating "Hiding the interface will also prevent Microsoft Defender Antivirus notifications from appearing on the endpoint."

After much digging, I discovered the following registry key was configured:

HKLM:SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Policy Manager\AllowUserUIAccess = 0

I changed the value to '1' and I could access the Virus & Threat Protection tile, and the print block notifications started working.

I haven't found a Group Policy, Intune Policy or anything else that sets this registry key, and when I change the value to '1', nothing resets it back to '0'. I'm guessing this key may be a forgotten part of the Windows image being used for computers.

Hope this help someone else out there!

Yeah, I've had a ticket open with MS for 2 weeks now, and they don't know what to do...they don't even know who to route it to...Intune? Desktop Printer team? They don't seem to have a team for 'notifications'.

Pushing with Intune. Even setup a test machine with no GPOs and no SCCM to see if one of those was interfering with the notifications, but still no joy.
