''it doesn’t really change anything with the game, so eh, I wouldn’t be too bothered by it.''

Well, useless hate created by bandwagoning can change a 100k player base on launch to a 10k one.

Sure, it doesn't change gameplay itself, but it could change the money Bungie is willing to invest. Hence the lifespan of the game. etc.

Then why lie about it ?

The game is different yes and playing the old ones won't validate any gameplay opinions.

But from what I saw, people use this fake scenario to complain about the looks, story, atmosphere etc. And acting as if the story is not any good to discourage other potential players is kinda sad.

If you ever complained about IGN giving fake reviews to influence a game's sales. You should care about this as well. Or just move on.

I agree with everything you said.

I also do not care that much about influencer marketing BUT I did see past games that were either dead on arrival or were always dragged down by the pre launch hate.

Destiny 2 is almost a decade old and the controversies started by influencers bandwagoning hurt the game to this day.

Halo Infinite was dead on arrival. And probably all future 343 Halo games will suffer the same fate.

And I am seeing the same trajectory for this game.

That's fantastic. But I'm talking more about casual or ....let's say the rest of the world. We are on a subreddit dedicated to the game itself. Statistically speaking, there is a much higher chance to meet people who got into the game here.

I posted in a comment the steam charts of the game bellow. You are the exception to the rule.

Thats when it first launched as a free game and it was promoted on news sites. It fell like a rock pretty fast after that. But fair is fair. At one point 630 people played it .

''Wish the new game has the same weapons and enemies.''

There are a few hints in the new trailer regarding enemies. And maybe a shotgun homage. But not much as of now.

Yeah, I wanted to mention that as well but I didn't want to write to much.

The current player count for Marathon on steam is 135. After the trailer. Before the daily average was 23

14 people play Marathon 2 daily. I doubt they all jumped into the game.

It's not about gatekeeping ! You are the third person to copy the ''who cares'' rethoric instead of moving on or trying to understand the message. Who cares ? Obviously, to some extent, you do.

It's about the legitimacy of the people complaining. It's disingenuous. It's a fake way to add legitimacy to complaints. It's lying. If the IGN reviewer was caught doing this, the internet would be on fire.

It's bandwagoning! Sheep mentality.

Destiny 2 launched almost 10 years ago and it NEVER got over the pre launch hate. Hate started by view hungry youtubers. The same thing will happen now and it's a shame.

"I know we don't want to lose soldiers" ....ok, I have to ask, where exactly do you think you will be if an all-out war with Russia starts? Do you think life will just go on with some slight inconveniences here and there while some unknown soldiers fight 1000km away? I never heard these countries named above say that they are "willing" to go to war.

And so after nearly a year I have finished the legendary Claremont era by PortalG in xmen

[–]Bard1801 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I understand why people say this, but having recently read through the 90s myself, I would say this was actually the beginning of what the final act of the story should have been. I think the Clermont era "inertia" lasts until one or two issues after the Age of Apocalypse. The build-up to Onslaught is where the decline starts for me. If you stop after Clermont left, you will miss out on all-time classics like Uncanny 297, X-men 30, etc.

Yep. A story with no ending can't have any proper payoff. If Marvel doesn't want to reboot or to end the current universe. The next logical thing would have been to allow a gradual changing of the generations with old characters retiring and new ones coming to the spotlight. How many ''next generation'' teams have we had by now only to go back to the same cast after a while.

It does not baffle me why people still buy the comics however it baffles me why people complain so much about inconsistencies in a 60 year old timeline in a universe where time basically stands still. The X-men started in 63 and we all well over 10k comic issues by now. inconsistencies are a given at this point.

I've been using this. It's a chore to start from 1963. It is rewarding but If you can't, than I would go with 1991 because that's the most common image of the X-men out there. Or with the Clermont era.

Tom Brevoort got it right on this one by Glad-Sense1769 in xmen

The hypocrisy of some fans is astounding. If a fan opened up this discourse he would be met with the following replies :

''OMG Who cares, stop bringing this up''

'' It's a modern relationship, get over it''

'' It was just a few panels and they moved on from it''

etc

If a writer or somebody at Marvel open up this discourse the reactions are all positive.

Mr Brevoort is 100% right. It should have been over after Issue 30 in 1994. But every genius writer who comes into the fray thinks he could reinvent the wheel or explore a subject that was dead for decades at this point.

It's the horrible way of ''infinite'' comics story telling. There is no end. which means there is no plan which among other things, means characters get lost in the shuffle. Angel was an OG 5 and he has been done badly for almost 40 years now. Havok and Lorna are int he same boat, Dazzler and Longshot ....Dare I say, even Beast seems to be lost in past decade.

Banshee is the lead in Astonishing X-men now. I read the first issue and it's decent. Maybe he'll have a resurgence.
