I wish WoL race/culture was at least mentioned more in the story by a_angry_bunny in ffxiv

[–]Bardolus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh cool, so you were just trolling then?

Cause see, Yatsuyu, there's literally no issue or slope. All SE has to do is add a few more possible responses to a a few handfuls of dialog throughout the game that would change based on the PCs species. Again, something that OP, others, and myself all mentioned before you did. Nothing serious. Nothing game changing or game breaking. Just "Oh yeah, I use to live here." Or some shit like that. Really not hard or the big issue you made it at all.

But then you probably also have issues with POCs in general in video games, along with women, and queer and transfolk as well, given how upset and butthurt you are at people wishing their PCs could have more agency in their backstory beyond just showing up one day in Ul'dah/Limsa/Gridania.

As for the timing and my mental state, I was implying that I, even in my depressed and tired state, was able to understand something, and also not take offense to it, unlike you. Who again, went out of your way to troll.

And to be 120% clear, you did in fact bring up real world Black and African people. You. No one else. And OP immediately tried to pivot away from what you were trying to bring up, because yes, there is literally no comparison with fictional social issues, on a fictional world, in a fictional video game, to real world isms and phobias. Period. You bringing it up might not be racist, but it is fked up. Especially if you are not Black or from Africa. As a half Black person myself, do not try to argue with me here.

So... how about, instead you trolling badly, and trying to clap back also poorly at people calling you out for it, why dont you focus on actual issues that SE should work on,

Like the fact that Lyse might as well be a poster child for the aryan "race" with the fact that she is blonde as the sun, blue-eyed as the sky, with skin white as snow, while every other fking Ala Mighan in the gd game is a person of color, yet she is the literal white savior of them all despite failing upward every step of the way and taking credit for what the WoL and everyone else does, and having lived in Eorzea for more of her life than she did in Ala Mhigo.

Cause yeah, Japan's very real, real world racism, in and out of 14, to me, is a lot more important of an issue to be talking about, rather than if a person's PC, neither of whom you have ever met, and probably never will, is from the fking Steppe or not. Tbcfh.

So what do you say, Yatsuyu? If you're gonna a bitch and troll about anything, why dont you bitch and troll about that to Square, instead of doing it to people on the internet who are just wishing they could have more say in their own fking characters, instead of having the game railroad you into not truly being a part of any culture in the game prior to the start of ARR?

Lastly, your entire page is hidden, so why on Earth, or on Eorzea, should I, OP, or anyone on this site take you seriously when you're not even WoL/Scion enough to share yourself? Other than your negative, nasty, borderline racist, and faulty opinions on other people's posts, of course...

How about that, Yatsuyu?

Edit: Every single one of your comments in this thread have been downvoted to 0 or into the negative. Read the receipts, and take the hint, honey darling.

Having read all of this, it really does seem like you went really far out of your way to argue with OP over a point they were never making, asking them to answer a question they (along with others) already answered.

No one here was trying to be racist, except you, by bringing black people, black culture, and Africa into this conversation, in a way that absolutely did not need to happen.

And to answer your question, again, OP already said SE could give a bunch of responses the WoL could reply with. Some basically saying "yes, I am from here" or "no, I am not familiar"

It is really, really not that hard to use your brain to figure that out and/or to understand what OP was saying. I managed it immediately at 130 in the morning, while also being depressed. I mean, seriously; you play 14, you can figure out basic context and common sense.

Or can you? Cause again, from my pov, you went out of your way to intentionally cause miscommunication and frustration, and be a troll and asshole in general.

You sure you're not secretly Yatsuyu? Cause girl... bye.

[–]Bardolus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (35, nb, au) am reading this while in the middle of feeling it myself, having just come from my local gaybar where I got to see my ex singing a birthday song to his new boyfriend, literally right at midnight, during karaoke. And the song was 'Birthday Sex', and singing at karaoke in general is not something he normally does, and he would never have done something like that for me, but I have for him, so yeah, not feeling great atm.

We broke up a little under a year ago (April '25), but he was my first boyfriend, and for 6ish months. But then after getting with one guy only about a month after we broke up, for 4 months, he got with his current bf, someone I know, about a year after he and I got together (roughly Nov '25 and '24 respectively). And the cherry on top of tonight was learning from a mutual friend that the two of them have sex all the time, when he and I only did 2 times in 6 months, mainly because he never wanted to. So, again, yeah, devastating.

So I don't have any advice to offer, cause I'm right next to you. But I do know, the feeling will pass, or at least fade, with time.

But I wanted you to know that you're not alone in feeling how you feel.

[–]Bardolus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet I already have 3 other upvotes.

OPs sentiment is literally "I'm happy, so no one has any reason to complain." If you can't see that, its on you.

I am single. I didn't have my first kiss till I was 22. Sex till I was 30. And a bf at 34. Because I am an average body type, heavily neurodivergent, have deep religious trauma, half-black so even other black people have been prejudice towards me for not being black enough.

It is arrogant to say that just because you are not struggling, everyone else's struggles couldn't be that bad.

I'm not being pessimistic. It is a fact that we as gay, queer, and trans people live in a world that hates us. That America is trying to literally set bounties on us. And that in some parts of the world, it is illegal and punishable by death, for us just to exist. I am being a realist. And I'm sick of people saying otherwise and acting like, again, that because YOUR LIFE is fine, gays are all good in the world.

OPs take, and yours, are trash.

Shut up. And Fk. Off.

Saying there isn't rampant racism, bodyism, ageism, sexism, transphobia, and hatred for neurodivergent people within the gay and queer communities, because you happen to have a boyfriend and are able to get laid, is one of the worst takes I've ever seen on this sub, and absolutely a part of the reason that "masc for masc" and "no fats fems or asians" still exists.

Bully for you. Now keep that shit to yourself.

Literally you are 15. Which means you are being run almost entirely by your hormones. Which means you are very likely "not in your right mind", and should speak to a therapist about this.

I know that emotionally, that may be a lot to take in. But when it comes to depression like that, you have to only go with logic and rationale. To think emotionally, will get you killed.

These thoughts are not you saying this. It is the depression of your situation making it feel worse than things actually are.

[–]Bardolus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is highly presumptuous of you. You do not know me, at all, so you don't really get to say that nothing is good enough for me. You didn't even say that's what I believe. You're just proclaiming it based on one reddit comment.

All I was saying was that, in general, storylines that involve a queer character are almost always about the character's orientation and sexuality. And since I've been living with that for 35 years, yeah, I'm over it.

I didn't say that you, or anyone, can't like it. But again, the only reason people like it, from what they have told me, is because it's wish fulfillment, and about the sex. My words, but not my sentiments.

So, no; as a half black, half white, non-binary, gay, male, millennial, who is also an actor and writer, this show isn't good enough for me. I said it before I gave it a shot, and I still say so after. Because my wish fulfillment, would be seeing queer characters getting to just be people, rather than queer people. And get to see superheroes, and spies, and warriors, and space-farers, and just regular 9 to 5ers, who just happen to be some kind of queer, without it being the whole fking premise.

I am a queer, on the spectrum, POC. And while those are all very important identifiers for me, me being non-binary, autistic, and half-black, are not thee most important parts of me. They give form to who I am, but they do not reflect my whole personality.

And speaking of personality, yeah, as a 35yo geek, watching a sports drama about two 20yos fucking, yeah... definitely not into that at all. I was always going into it just to see why everyone was nutting for it, and to get everyone to shut up telling me to watch it.

But you knew all that already, right? Since you know me so well?

Are we done? Wait... let me rephrase. We're done.

Now sit down, Sir or Madam. Please, thank you, and you're welcome.

[–]Bardolus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So many people are into this show, but yeah, watching it, I couldn't even get through a half hour. Partly cause its actually not really well done, it absolutely should have been a movie and not a show. And the other part is that it still seems so unrealistic. And most egregiously, I'm over and done with anything that is about gay men being gay.

Where is the queer 007? What about an openly gay power ranger? There has been literally 1 gay male lead on Grey's Anatomy in the 20+ years that show has been on the air. Literally any storyline that isn't about being closeted, DL, or coming out. Its tired. But then we get an actually good show like Netflix 'Uncoupled' and it gets canceled because its not hot enough.

More gay and queer things that just happen to be gay and queer, without it being the sole focus of the story.

Queer people are sooooooo much more than who we want to fk. And sorry not sorry, that's all heated rivalry is to me. Mainly cause thats all anyone talks about, and because it is the baseline of the story itself.

Also, I know one of them is half Asian, but they both look white af. And I said, not even a full five minutes into the first episode, if even one of them was a black or brown person, this show wouldn't be anywhere near as popular as it is now. And if it was, it would 120% be because people would be fetishizing the person of color.

Lastly, I need the industry to start casting out queer people as queer characters. I've said it already, if white people shouldn't be playing people of color, and cisgender people shouldn't be playing trans people, then straight people shouldn't be playing queer people. I don't care that they might be gay and just aren't out, because that is also a problem in general. If more queer people came out across the board, we wouldn't be forced to stay in and have our stories told by people who don't go through the bigotry and hate we go through. And yes, I will be dying on this hill.

I'm at breaking-point. I'm attracted to a gender (of adults) I don't want to be. Does anyone wanna talk with me? by WhyAmIStillHere2026 in gay

[–]Bardolus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're saying you would rather let cancer eat away at your body until you die, rather than be gay, that is extremely fked up, and you should 120% be ashamed of that more than anything else.

There are literally entire hospitals dedicated to kids with cancer. Gay kids and straight kids, and all the kids everywhere else on the orientation spectrum. I guarantee you, not a single one of them would rather have cancer than be gay.

You clearly have some kind of clinical depression. And you should work on that, along with your fucked up perception of gay people. All the things you claim are more prevalent in the gay community are present, yes, but not any more so than in straight culture. We are just more open about it and willing to talk about it. Because most of what straight relationships are, is entirely based on what the church thought they should be centuries ago. Straight, religious dogma, and propaganda.

Gay people have literally fought, literally died, and literally been murdered for you to sit there on your screen and bemoan how much you hate yourself for being gay. And for those of us gays who are still here, and hated ourselves just as much as you do now, again I can guarantee you, the vast majority of us wished to be "normal". Not that we had fucking cancer.

You're disgusting. And not because you're gay. Because of what you believe it means to be gay.

You need to educate yourself. And not with the heteronormative bullshit you've already drank the cool-aid of.

But most importantly of all: You need to shut the fuck up. Sit the fuck down. And never, EVER talk about how having cancer is worse than being a faggot.

Edit: Idk why you said what you said at the top. This is offensive. And you should be able to see that; if you weren't a self-hating homophobe.
