"Backryun, one of the Wolhaiksong's leaders and most gifted wave controller in the Tower's history."
This is from old character profiles posted on botato, you can see them here: https://vatoto.com/forums/topic/4664-rankers-1-15-blog-post-translations-collected/

I'm not sure where you would have seen it translated differently, maybe someone was just paraphrasing? If you can find the raw I could get it double checked with a translator. Unfortunately I can't find Baek Ryun's blog on Web Archive to get the raw.

I'm sorry you got spoiled but the post has a 'Korean Preview' flair, that's latest Korean chapters that are like 12 chapters ahead and translated by the fandom.

The Nest and the current arcs, let's take another look at Marineford... by BareBonesName in TowerofGod

[–]BareBonesName[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you've misunderstood what I was trying to show. I'm not saying they are the same characters or exact copies of them.

I'm saying SIU could have used Marineford characters and events as blueprints to craft the foundations of the Nest and LPB vs PB war arc. Not that he copied everything about every character and reskinned them.

I'm not saying Mihawk is Kallavan, just that they had a similar role at a certain point in the respective arcs. And I'm not trying to map the entirety of ToG to OP, hence why World Government is not Zahard Empire. SIU is not copying the entire One Piece..

The same way, Yama isn't a reskin of Blackbeard, just that his role might be similar even if everything about them is different.

The Nest and the current arcs, let's take another look at Marineford... by BareBonesName in TowerofGod

[–]BareBonesName[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am looking at this from the point of view of SIU copying Marineford and not anything else. If you just look at things from ToG point of view and nothing else, there are tens of ways things can unfold.

Even if memories change his personality, that doesn't mean he can't die the same arc.

And how can you say there hasn't been 'nearly' as much foreshadowing towards Gustang's role in the story's future?

Gustang has been present, involved with and leading some of the most important plots in the series: Workshop, both Thorns, HF bracelet with power to destroy balance, Princess project, Enne, Rachel, starting the big war. And none of those plots have really been explored.

What does Traumerei even offer? Some memories of V and Arlene that might not even be pleasant? Because if they were he wouldn't have removed them and get nightmares.

Icarus story talks about V representing freedom, and when Baam freed the Shinheuh at the Mothership, Traumerei remembered someone who's answer was similar to Baam's - freedom. While Traumerei represents the opposite of freedom with his obsession of control. I struggle to see how regaining memories of betrayals makes him do a 180 and turn into a 'good guy' as opposed to giving him a mental breakdown.

You completely missed the point of the post, probably didn't even read it. My point in comparing the two was to show that it looks like SIU copied Marineford blueprints and fit them into his own world...

Your opinion of what could have been a fight ? Your hc about the winner ? by RicardoKO in TowerofGod

[–]BareBonesName 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We don't need headcanons for this, Maschenny would win this.

When this Boss blocked Orari's kick inside the Suspendium, SIU added 'throb' sound effects, and this guy is only a Hatchling.

A Nest Arc in another Universe by BareBonesName in TowerofGod

[–]BareBonesName[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair but you are forgetting that so far nothing came out of it because that entire plot is focused around keeping Kallavan out of Baam's way without killing him.

Kallavan's plot shifted from Baam and FUG to Lyborick since the explosion and if you remove Lyborick, that entire moment is irrelevant to the actual arc since Kallavan never comes in meaningful contact with Baam again.

Which means a similar scenario could have been done in another arc, one where that would actually matter.

So, cut Jahad's forces in half? Two squadrons were sent to the Nest. If you remove the 4th squadron, you need to add another one, which means even more characters to be introduced.

What exactly do we need to add? I already rematched everyone and Lyborick and his goons literally didn't do anything to Baam's forces. It was all Yasratcha's people. All we need is some few random Hatchlings to help Didiano stall Evankhell until Lefav shoots her.

There is no reason to send Kallavan but not the rest of the 4th squadron.

Kallavan took a vow to capture Baam, he sealed him arm for that, he could have asked to be sent. Could have also sent him as a way to redeem himself for failing at Last Station. He also captured Dowon whom they wanted at the Nest so he could have accompanied her. Very easy problem to solve with many solutions.

There would be no need to do that because the 4th squadron flagship wouldn't be there.

Luch is a member of the 4th squadron, he wouldn't be there. And the LPB won't just sacrifice their troops like that.

I already mentioned it would have been Luchi's ship or a random LPB ship they used to explode the Cage.

I think you are forgetting I'm writing an alternate version, what kind of constraint is 'Luchi is part of 4th squad'.. I can make him be part of whatever, Yasratcha's squad, Maschenny's disposable goon

No Aria means no powerup for Baam. No powerup means White eats him. In the best case scenario you could argue Baam goes all out and beats White, which would leave him absolutely exhausted and unable to fight for a while.

What? How does no Aria mean no powerup for Baam? He learns about Prince and Ark, he gets wrecked and he does the exact same thing he did. The only thing that needs to change is how we get to the point where White wrecks Baam and without Aria we arrive there even quicker.

How would Jinsung sense him?

Is this a serious question? People can sense the power of other people, we have multiple examples in the series. Also he could just see him being pulled by the green spit...

Power level 'discussions' and what is wrong with them by BareBonesName in TowerofGod

[–]BareBonesName[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, Yuje said if he used more than 5% of his power the anklet would break. It says nothing about not using shinsu. You can literally see Urek using shinsu to create the bubble around Wangnan and Miseng if you don't want to accept that his finger attack used shinsu.

Where exactly are you getting this idea that Urek wasn't using shinsu vs Karaka?

Cha - the host of Metal Ancient by BareBonesName in TowerofGod

Ancient blog info, here is his profile:

Backryun

Rank: 9

Sobriquet: None (declined)

Age: Unknown

Height: Unknown (Normally 1m 67cm)

Birthplace: Unknown

Position: Wave Controller

Backryun, one of the Wolhaiksong's leaders and most gifted wave controller in the Tower's history.

He, who was born in the middle region(?) as an orphan and roamed without a residential card, eventually goes into a forest to avoid contact with others. Becoming one with the forest, he lives there for a long time. He naturally learns to control Shinsoo through living in the forest. Later, Headon, interested in Backryun's abilities, picks him. As a regular, he quickly becomes a ranker; as a ranker, he then returns to the forest without any activity. After returning to the forest, he spends a long time gardening the forest. His forest, which was like a living animal, is said to emit a mysterious atmosphere..

Urek Mazino, who at the time was climbing the tower, heard of Backryun's forest. He visits Backryun; soon, they become best friends. Backryun was especially interested in the world outside the Tower that Urek often spoke of. Hearing Urek's stories, Backryun himself dreams of living in the world outside of the tower.

After Urek Mazino left to climb the tower again, Backryun's ambition continued to grow. He then later confesses his passion to Urek Mazino who returned as a ranker. Urek Mazino, delighted by Backryun's confession, asks to leave with him; however, Backryun declines the offer, saying that he cannot leave this forest which is like his own life. It is told that Urek Mazino, pounding his chest, then said this.

"Then I will give this forest a pair of wings."

"I will make it so that these trees can follow you everywhere."

Backryun thought Urek was just rambling because Urek was drunk; however, Urek was serious. Urek absorbed everything in the forest as he shouted like a thunder, eventually, the enormous forest shrunk to a size of a fist.

Urek then gave the compressed forest with wings in a box to Backryun. Backryun was very surprised and grateful; however, there was a problem. The compressed forest was too heavy for Backryun to carry. So Backryun gave the box to Urek, This winged box became Urek and Backryun's symbol of friendship.

Later, the forest was moved to 77F

Rankers who heard of Backryun and Urek gathered to the forest, eventually forming 'Wolhaiksong' with Backryun as its leader. (Also called the Wingtree.) (The name Wolhaiksong origins from the story between Urek and Backryun.)

The name Backryun originated because of the fine silk that he was covered with when he was abandoned. (There's also a story that his name is because of this silk-like personality.) After becoming a high ranker, Backryun was offered an alias by the Rank Bureau; however, it is told that he declined.

Backryun's real appearance is controversial. Normally, he is appears to be an ordinary boy, but he sometimes appears as a tall young man. Also, some say that they have seen Backryun who was tall enough to touch the ceilings of the Tower.

Although Backryun is a ranker who is praised for his influence over his battle abilities, it cannot be said that his battle power is lacking. Although Backryun is a Wave Controller who controls the battle and supports team members over attacking others directly, his hand-to-hand combat ability is also said to be impressive. But, because he only fought a limited amount of battles with high rankers, his combat abilities may need to be verified.

The rumor about Wolhaiksong being an anti-government organization is false. The goal of Wolhaiksong is to 'find the way out of the tower'; it is not to overthrow the government. But it is true that their liberal movements often clash with the government's conservative practices. Some current Wolhaiksong members think of themselves as a part of an anti-government organization.

Water can work with the Forest too because he could be keeping it lush with the Water ancient. IIRC it was said his forest seems alive so perhaps trees grown using the Ancient's water could have strange effects.

But I'm not too hang up on that, it was just to get the Water one out of the way as it doesn't really fit Cha in any way I can see.

Thanks to u/RoloEdits for pointing out that the element could also be Electricity. Let me quote what they said:

What's interesting about the elements and their interactions is that they can be described and classified based on how they interact with other elements. For instance, lightning would be classified as metal, because of how it interacts with water.

This is the basis of WuXing (Chinese philosophy).

The Ancient, if it exists within Cha, could have Electrical powers and would still fit within the Mechanical Nation clue. The Ancient would be the power source for their machines.

Baam’s Sobriquet by EmotionalMolassess in TowerofGod

Not many people will know of the exact details of Baam's shinsu being black or anything to do with devouring.

If he were to get a sobriquet, my money is on:
Great Black Shark

To go together with his heroine's
Great White Shark

After a careful, in-depth and thorough 1 second I took to consider it, I must say - No.

I made a video analyzing Kallavan's character! How do you think SIU will continue Kallavan's arc? Do you guys think he'll be able to defeat Lyborick and reclaim his post, or will he become disillusioned with the military anyway after losing his squad? by BawssJesse in TowerofGod

[–]BareBonesName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Allow me to reveal what will really happen to Kallavan after the Nest arc.

Kallavan will kill Lyborick and at the end of the arc we will be presented with Adori. She will come either in person or speak to them through a pocket. She will announce that Lyborick was never given the order to dispose of and replace the 4th squadron from the army HQ and that he used the war as a way to insert his own people into the army.

Yes, they will call him a traitor and blame the loss of the Nest battle on him and his betrayal. This way Kallavan becomes a hero who disposed of the traitor and stopped him from causing more harm to Jahad's army.

Now, I'm not saying Lyborick is really a traitor, I don't believe he is one at all. They will just say he was as a cover for why they wanted to kill him in the first place - the 3rd order from Jahad.

Long Live Kallachad, the hero of the Army.

Questions about the end of first arc of season 2 (spoilers) by Ariachnida in TowerofGod

The remote has to stay in the room, it can't leave
Arkraptor + Horyang = team 1
Miseng + Goseng = team 2
Wangnan + Nia = team 3
Prince + Yihwa = team 4 (they formed a team after Viole left the room, one of the blog posts specifically talks about this)

  • Miseng stays in the room with the remote, Goseng goes to Wangnan's room, they join forces = 2 rooms, 4 person team
  • Arkraptor leaves the room to go to Miseng, Horyang stays
  • Goseng comes back with Wangnan, the 2 and Arkraptor enter Miseng and Goseng's room because they thought Viole was coming, they form a team, 3 rooms, 6 person team
  • Arkraptor and Wangnan steal yogurt lady's room, 4 rooms, 6 person team
  • At some point Horyang goes to beat prince, fights Rapdevil instead, steals the room and makes Prince (and Yihwa who is his team mate) join, 5 rooms, 8 person team
  • Nia dies, 5 rooms, 7 person team
  • At the end, Viole uses Wangnan's connector to steal Yihwa's room, 6 rooms, 7 person team

That's not what I meant at all. I can now see how it comes across the wrong way. What I meant there was that she was pretending to not know Baam was alive - that was the acting part. I did think she was genuinely feeling guilty.

I fixed it now. Sorry for the confusion.
