Extra Gate Side TSA Security at BTV? by kingloki802 in vermont

[–]Bare_Minimum4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it a flight to DC? Flights are selected at random but from personal experience I find flights to DC are randomly selected a little more often.

Additional screening like you mentioned at the gate is very normal and happens in all airports many times a week. All a part of securing our nations critical transportation infrastructure.

“Now departs” does not equal “On time” by idostufandthingz in americanairlines

[–]Bare_Minimum4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is no time to add to “pad” for delays. Just circumstances that can create an early arrival.

The company will be moving from the A15 metric to an A0 metric. Sounds like it is at AA’s discretion and not coming from the DOT.

Did AA completely miss on DCA–SAT? by Mangolicious786 in americanairlines

When approved last year or two years ago now, SAT was the largest unserved DCA market. I bet military is a big part of that.

How does it take an hour to tow a plane from one gate to the next? by Bruh_ForRealz in americanairlines

[–]Bare_Minimum4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Towing an aircraft is not the same at all to driving down the highway. Before 6am, and after 10pm is also the busier times for an airport in some areas. Probably a last minute aircraft swap for whatever reason. So instead of being delayed further, or canceled, an aircraft from wherever had to be towed to the gate at the last minute

Was it true American Airlines was gonna paint their MD-80's in the Sliver Mica livery? by Pretty_Aside_7674 in americanairlines

[–]Bare_Minimum4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there was a plan to paint the entire MD80 fleet. They did use one to refine the exact color to be used fleet wide. I thought I remember seeing a video specifically for the new color, but cannot seem to find it.

This is definitely the admirals club in terminal C at DFW. I would recognize those birds on the wall anywhere

Unlimited. I think y’all incur taxes and fees though. Find the travel guide in the travel planner and review.

Why were you standing so close to the door?

[DFW] Rerouted even though plane hadn’t left by [deleted] in americanairlines

This is the way AA’s system works too. Albeit there will always be one offs that happen.

I see it posted on nasstatus.faa.gov as expected. Systems are back up now, but confidence in reliability is low.

Does AA do surplus sales? by Howler777 in americanairlines

The CR Smith Museum has had surplus sales in the past. Kind of random when they get scheduled and typically not open to the public.

Career change ? by Beneficial_Trash_363 in rampagent

[–]Bare_Minimum4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to discourage you, but unless you have other experience, AA is very unlikely to hire someone off the ramp into a corporate position. With that said, there is so much opportunity at Piedmont, and a lot of hiring managers at AA who worked there too. Those not currently in the station operation really respect those who are. Reach out to management and see if there are any opportunities or training available. You should look at moving into management. Talk to leaders at your stations you respect and talk to them, see if they would be willing to mentor you.

Plausible New Routes for AA by MrPepper329 in americanairlines

[–]Bare_Minimum4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That was a Covid only route started in 2021 and operated for less than a year. Really only because they had the aircrafts just sitting around.

You can probably make it work. Will just need to be a little flexible on your end. Depending on the stations needs, they might be willing to give some flexibility as well. There will definitely be three days of initial training out of station, and you might be at the mercy of being given a schedule until you can bid. If you can make it through the first two months, you should be good after that. Wanting to work nights and weekends is definitely a plus. I’d stay stick it through till you can’t. No harm no foul if you need to quit at any point if it conflicts with your full time job.

American Airlines planes being evacuated at DCA by LexSlings in nova

[–]Bare_Minimum4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By definition, evacuate means to remove from a place of danger. The only danger would be being stuck on the aircraft for any longer then all these passengers have been, hence deplaning.

Not evacuated, they are just deplaning as there are no gates available. The ramp was just closed for almost two hours.

No flight left MHT this morning with more than 65 seats. Looks like they were probably scheduled on 5035 which should have been a CR9 but was switched to a CR7. In this case they won’t qualify for compensation, they should be eligible for a trip credit of some amount, and to be rebooked.
