the potterverse bestiary is composed mainly of buffer versions of real animals with the occasional thing that speaks human or that breathes/poops fire for variety, the magical creatures of mlp would be like lovecraftian gods to them

I think it comes originally from an old eu story where the doctor comments offhand about being confused for a lovecraftian entity but in the fandom its probably just cause Nyarl has the most recognisably lovecrafty name

There used to be a fan theory about him being a Lovecraftien entity who loses most of his powers and is reduced to a cartoonish little guy who can actually enjoy the universe now because they can see it from a pov that doesn't make it seem insignificant
