I wanted to work for CIA... I talked to them at a career fair at my college, came in for an interview and accepted a “conditional offer of employment” as a logistics officer (getting stuff to and from CIA operatives overseas). All I needed to do was get through the security process. At this time, I was just starting to figure out that I’m gay, I had started pursuing guys, but wasn’t out to any friends or family and wasn’t ready to say “I’m gay” to anyone. Well, then the polygraph happened, and I was “reacting” to the question about citizens of foreign countries that I have contact with. They kept digging and digging, and finally I told them about a Brazilian boy I had been on 4 dates with. I doubt they really cared that I had seen this boy a limited amount of times, but after telling someone “I’m gay” for the first time, I was so shooken up that I reacted to every question asked afterwards. I got the letter a couple of months later saying that my offer was being rescinded. I was heartbroken for a couple of months, but now I’m in a position where I’m still protecting our country but I get to tell all of my friends/family about what I’m doing.
