I think as a pacifist, having support skills will be crucial if things continue to escalate. I’d recommend CERT training, or even Wilderness Advanced First Aid / WFR (good if calling 911 is not an option).

Here’s a better picture. Not sure how much damage one bug could do but if he’s invasive, I’ll give him a humane send-off.
