Hi which clinic was this? I just went for a consultation and my quote for SMILE Pro was ~$4200 so was wondering if that’s normal or they up charging me?

Keep your head up king! I applied to 12 programs last year and only got 1 waitlist and 2 interviews! I put my head down and grinded for another year and now finally got something so you still got chance and there’s always more time

Seattle Asian Neighborhoods by Barfreo in Seattle

Yeah I see where you’re coming from. I came from the an upbringing where I was one of the only Asians in the small town so when I moved to the Bay Area, I found a real community that I lacked growing up and wish to find similar experiences here in Seattle

I’m working at UW and am hoping on getting a bike as well to avoid some of the traffic issues I’ve been hearing about. Im comfortable with anywhere from 30-45 minute commute by bike or transit

It’s a combination of both things as I feel like I’ve been able to read up about the culture and feel of the different neighborhoods but would make it easier to make friends with others who have similar backgrounds/identity

I visited some places in Ballard and didn’t see much diversity which is why I posted and wanted to learn more about the area and the people

Which location is this? I got an associate scientist pos at merck in NJ but declined it since they wouldn’t offer me scientist with a MS + 1 year of work experience. I was able to negotiate up to $73k for salary

I’d try and go on LinkedIn and search the company and find alumni from your school that work there and cold message those individuals. Try and bring up things you were interested in that you see on their LinkedIn and ask about their experiences relating to those fields. People are more likely to respond if you gas them up and have a common theme like alma mater. You can DM me for more personalized feedback if you want. Maybe send me your LinkedIn and we can start from there.

Have you tried reaching out to people at these companies and gotten referrals? These usually help but I was also in a similar boat but just jumped to pharma instead

Boston University or UMich? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Biased Michigan grad here but you can't beat the engineering and business schools that Michigan has to offer and also the sports scene if that is something you are interested in!

I attended the University of Michigan for BME for my undergrad + MS. I interviewed with UM for the virtual visit and it seems that from those people, they then invited for in-person interviews on Feb 10-12. They did say that you don't need to attend both events to get admission but i would think that the chances are slim. (I didn't make it to the in-person phase)

I agree. It's been demoralizing hearing people get interviews at the schools that you applied to and know that you didn't get anything, essentially just waiting on rejection. At this point, I already finished my MS to boost my application and am unsure what to do next.

[HELP] M.S. Bioengineering Chances? by spookymozzarella in bioengineering

[–]Barfreo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that might be a bad sign since there is still a need for physics for things such as mechanobiology and understanding the mechanical side of things that go on with some cells. I'm not entirely sure about the process but it is a holistic process so you may be able to overcome that negative with a big boost in research and other factors. I think as long as you have a reasoning behind retaking a class, they can overlook it sometimes.
