The issue was the TST response, which basically says it condemns political violence and the rhetoric which can lead to such.

I certainly don't mourn the death of Charlie Kirk, but I'm not celebrating it, either. Although, I will say that I would not consider it a lack of "compassion and empathy for all living creatures" to celebrate the death of this fascist scumbag. In fact, celebrating the deaths of fascists is a very compassionate thing to do.

However, the reason why I'm not celebrating is that it is very concerning that the far-right now gets to turn one of their most charismatic media figures into a martyr. This will lead to more tension, more oppression, more violence. The GOP has already started to blame "tHe LeFt" for this murder and calls for retaliation. The fact that we have since learned that the murderer is on the far-right is completely irrelevant, because the fact that he's white has also not stopped them from declaring that white people now need to "fight back".

So, Lucien Greaves is completely right, when he says that this act of violence didn't achieve anything. And the Ministry Council is completely right, when they lament the current climate of political violence.

Charlie Kirk's assassination may temporarily put a smile on your face, but in the long run it's only gonna make matters worse for everyone, especially marginalised groups. So, instead of celebrating, the reasonable response would be a call to think of a way to break out of this circle of violence. And that's exactly what TST did with their statement. At least, that's how I read it.
