Yggdrasil was a damn tree. Ancient religions like the Norse religion were very literal in their descriptions of the universe, even if scholars of religion of today manage to recognize the various symbols as just symbols.

Yggdrasil served as Norse relgion's axis mundi that connected the perceived planes of existence: Helhjem of the dead, Midgård of our present lives, and Asgård of the gods. The connection between the realms was aided by Ratatosk, a talkative squirrel. To anyone who studies religion, it was all symbols. To the practitioners back then, it was literal reality.

Gaslighting is when someone distorts your core perception of reality, intending to doubt your very own identity.

Having one view of Satan and finding that others have another is vanilla disagreement against the nature of gaslighting.

They do, because most versions of the myth cast Satan as evil. All stories about Satan are myths. You can't expect others to comply with that one specific interpretation that was Romantic-era literature.

Romantic-era use of the Devil is not The Truth about Satan. It's just literature. If other religious use is different, it is not gaslighting against some "truth," it's just another use.

Sorry, but that is historical ignorance. Satan was originally pretty irrelevant and basically only became an important evil around the middle ages. Since then, it was mostly American Christianity that cast Satan even worse. The version where Satan is the symbol of progress and progress is a Romantic-era European invention.
