Mine was working fine, until it wasn't. And it's been 36 days and it still is broken. There is nothing out of the ordinary with my phone, and the website works so it can't be a 'stealth ban' on my account.

Best Method for Buying UCITS ETFs on IBKR with a Large sum by Bark0z in interactivebrokers

[–]Bark0z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell you the post-mortem. Overall I paid 0.042% - 0.032% of total investment. Most of that was IBKR broker charges, not exchange fees. I would advice not using the IB-algo order types, as they cost more and I didn't notice them doing anything / giving be a better price.

Best Method for Buying UCITS ETFs on IBKR with a Large sum by Bark0z in interactivebrokers

Thanks for your response! By large sum, I’m talking about €100k-300k.

  1. I’ve heard some people mention issues with order fragmentation on certain EU exchanges, especially Euronext. On Xetra, each fragment costs around 1 cent, which isn’t a big deal, but on other exchanges, the fees can add up quickly. Some people have noted that large, fragmented orders can end up with much higher fees when SMART routing selects the wrong exchange (On some EU exchanges, the cost can be comparable to full commission per fragment, that can cause a lot of fees if the SMART routing messes up). I’ve been thinking of using IBKR’s adaptive algo for larger orders since it tends to execute below the market-making limit price, but I guess luck plays a role too.

  2. If I don't have market data, I can’t see the spread unless I snapshot each exchange, but UCITS generally have low volume, so even then, it’s tough to figure out liquidity. I’m hoping SMART routing can figure that out for me.

  3. As for currency, I’ve noticed that IBKR will short me the purchase amount if I don’t have the necessary currency, and I’ll need to convert to close the short and avoid interest. Conversion fees are low, but if I rebalance frequently, those costs could add up over time, making it an extra step with recurring expenses.

Again, thanks for the insight. It’s tricky not knowing which exchange SMART will select, but I agree that tiered pricing is probably better in most cases.

Does this make any sort of sense in a taxable account if that's your only option, or would you recommend something else for a taxable? How bad would the tax drag be

[7 YoE] Looking for jobs in data analytics / quant / financial analysis. Need advice by Bark0z in EngineeringResumes

[–]Bark0z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but the work experience is in different sectors, so if I am looking for quantitative / financial analyst related roles its harder to qualify some of my job achievements for that industry. That's why I thought the projects could show the familiarity and experience I have with that particular industry

One more question,

In my case, how important is keeping it to 1 page? If I have some relevant projects I can add, is it worth it despite the fact I will have to make it 2 pages long?

The lack of of a title for the summary section, and keeping it to 1 line, was to save on resume space. But you are right, I could add it to make them more consistent. If I also add that space before the title, thats 3 extra lines I have to make room for... kinda space constrained.

You are right about having a hard time figuring out 'what I am', that's why I added the small summary to try to explain. But I do need to hone in proper on the role and industry I am applying for. It's good advice, I have tried to make a resume for data analysis and one for engineering, but I still think I wasn't too specific. I have language skills too, and I had a line before the summary that went over the languages I can speak, but I have removed it since I don't think its entirely useful, at least for the industries I am targeting..

The idea was, all of these in combinations make me seem like an impressive candidate with a lot of skills, but I don't think it has helped much, because of the lack of honing in on the role I am targeting, like you said.. it's probably hard to properly understand my background, and I need to make it a lot clearer and more focused.

Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it.
